Splitting Armrest

Splitting Armrest

The armrest on the driver's door of my 2009 Fit Sport has split for the second time. Honda did replace the first one. Has anyone else had this issue? Could be a design flaw - maybe the plastic is too thin?

don't put pressure on it while getting out of the car or during driving.

The armrest is unusable for me because it is at the wrong height relative to the seat. I wind up resting an elbow on the "ledge" by the window until my arm gets tired or falls asleep. My armrest will never break from use.

I made door armrest pads for mine when the panels started cracking - I don't think they were intended to be door armrests - they aren't sculpted for an arm, they aren't padded... I think they're just for looks, like those shutters and balconies you see on the windows of ticky-tacky houses in newer suburban subdivisions.

I find the armrest usefull even if it's not great, and I never put any weight on it when I get out of the car.

Both my driver and passenger side armrests cracked, probably within the first few months of ownership. Dealer replaced them both under warranty, and so far have held up...maybe they've reinforced them?

I find with the Fit I am driving in the 10 and two positions so very seldom use armrest.
