Honda Fit EV

I hope this means more headlight and taillight conversion options! I wonder if the lights will be LED projectors like the Nissan leaf or at least HID projectors. I have noticed after looking closely at the dealer that new Honda's (CR-Z) come with a blue filter in front of the projector. I would think this decreases output but I guess the engineers felt it was worth the color.

I bet the taillights are LED, so finally something OE available in the US other than Depos.

I wonder what else will swap with the GE8?

Parts swaps aside, this is an interesting car all in all. Says it will go on sale in 2012. I wonder if it'll cost an arm and a leg like the Nissan Leaf? I'd like to know how the cost of charging will compare to the cost of gas, and whether the battery pack takes up all the cargo room.

No red reflector in the tailights, not a chance they'd be legal in the US; thus, no chace they'd be released in the US.

EV/pih wanted: seeking plug-in vehicles to attend and enjoy the fun!

Their 40th Annual Rally has moved to Cupertino, CA USA. See
EV Rally

I posted more details on the evdl.org (the mother of EV discussions -
to have only one location so corrections and updates are easier).
Please read
Electric Vehicle Discussion List - Silicon Valley Rally on NPID Sun 10a-4p 9/23/2012 @De Anza College
and please consider attending this free EVent if you are in the area.

Thanks for reading,

Free Coulomb EVSE For The Workplace Offer, Expires 10/15/2012

The Coulomb URL is ChargePoint JumpStart Program

[ref post on the evdl.org - the mother of all EV discussions
Electric Vehicle Discussion List - EVLN: The Great Free Coulomb EVSE For The Workplace Offer, Expires 10/15/2012
]

I highly recommend all plug-in (EV & pih) drivers read the above evdl.org post and its links, and then approach their employer to take advantage of Coulomb's offer before it expires 10/15/2012. Except for a discounted installation cost, the the whole thing is free.

...
And for those local to Silicon Valley, CA I hope to see you at the

Has anyone looked into getting the parts for the climate control? That would be an awesome mod.

It would be cool, but it's very expensive and labor intensive.

You have to replace the dash controls, the control cables and even a few other things I haven't gotten into.

If you want to source it, you have to find the German Jazz... as that has the climate controls in the proper orientation (for left side steering wheels)... the rest are for right side steering wheels.

Hmm, wouldn't it be cheaper to source from fit EV parts? Since they're already shipping here and all.

Unless the EV has something completely different.

sorry for the late reply...

the problem with the EV is that it's on lockdown from Honda. It's a controlled lease only car. On way or another, those Fits will go back to Honda.

you can't source those parts from the EV, if it isn't already on a USDM gasoline Fit.

For example... no one sells the EV version of the taillight. Bernardi lists the part number, but no pricing for it. Yet, anything that is common to non-EV Fits, you can get.
