Life with BC Coilovers

Lot's of people have been asking me about my BC Racing Coilovers, well here's what I think.

They are full standard height adjustable with the option to lower 3.5". There are 30 damper settings from Hard to Soft. The spring rates are F 5k / R 4k.

At present, I am set at F25mm /R30mm lower than OEM height with the dampers set at F5 clicks soft / F4 clicks soft.

The car feels awsome and holds the road perfect at heigh speeds. There is no noise at all, even over rough roads and bumps. Body roll and sway is nearly ZERO. Now I control the car more not the car control me.

Another good thing I like is, I have the option to lower a lot more and set the dampers much harder.

I know there are many other brands of coilovers and strut spring brand combos, but after chatting with many other local people, these really live up to my expectations for road use.

I don't want to get to technical, but I had my car's ECU re-flashed, too and I get a lot more power and better MPG.

My next job is a Y-Body kit like this.

This is the company who will do the job for me, but I am not getting the chrome grill.

Scroll down the page to the yellow Mugen Y-Body.

I had a company do it for me.

They reflash the ECU to tune the fuel and ignition system to match the car, tuning includes released speed limit cut and rev limit cut, too. Oh and also close loop checking. There's no worry about honda warranty claim as they do not cut any wiring. They just open the ECU and connect the pin to read and write the data.
It take around 6 hours, because Honda's ECU is sealed with a silicone that is hard to open. They have to use a special chemical to open it, but it does not harm the ECU. It takes at least 3-4 hours to open it, after that they start to read and write the ECU to match the engine number, chasis number, immobilizer code and other technical stuff.
They also give a full warranty.

Watch this. It's the same thing, but the company dyno tested before and after. No problems at all. Just expensive, about $400 US. The only problem is opening Honda's ECU unit correctly on the GE Fit.

Watch it all. YouTube - Mighty Car Mods EP22 - How To Reflash Your ECU

can you tell me alittle more about it besides it taps into your cars FULL potential?
like would it be recommended for a stock sport a/t?
any other questions.. should this "reflash" be done before or after any modifications or it wouldnt matter?

What is it putting out now at the wheels compared to what a stock Fit puts out?

It seems a new thread needs to be started to deal with the ECU reflash!

The new suspension sounds like fun! Does it make the ride less comfortable over bad roads?

I thought it was going to be a bit hard on rough roads, but quite the opposite. I'm on settings F5/R4 and even my wife thinks it's perfect. As for me another 2 or 3 clicks harder would be even better.

Yes, they have a division in Florida. You can get the info off their website - google it.

That's pretty interesting.

Coupled with your earlier posts on damping force influencing the ride quality, I'm starting to take a long look at their GD coilovers...

Thanks for the testimonial.

Local trackday addicts here swear by BCs as well.

This is my first time with coilovers and before I bought them I was like Hmmmm, not sure.

Anyway, the main reason I went for something better was the Tanabe NF210 springs I installed were rubbish. The car swayed like a boat on the sea, worse than stock, but the ride height was perfect.

There is one thing I have noticed with standard Struts and springs, the rear end is about 20mm heigher than the front. I know Honda have done this to carry more weight in the rear. Do you think honda have also done this to also help with weight distrabution to give a better ride because of engine weight.

At the moment, my coilovers are setup 5mm heigher in the rear than the front. Maybe I should increase that to 10mm. Any ideas?

Question bc coilover questions?

p lek, I am also in Thailand.
Did you get your BC coilover installed at SMB?
I got mine installed in GD and have it pretty low. Setting at Front 9 click, Rear 5 click. Drove it over very bad road while going to chiangmai at speed of 70-85km/hr. about 15-30 km distance and feel pretty bouncy / rough. Do you get that type of problem over very bad road condition? What setting would you recommend for pretty low GD height? The height is 1 finger all around from tire to fender.

I don't have any pics on the lowest settings, but my car in the pics are set at 2 finger gap. They can go up to 3 finger gap and lower to below zero if you can drive that low.
