Just another dang tarted up GE8, lightweight performance
I learned when I was 9 when I started olympic style bicycle track racing that lighter is better. So it is usually function over form for me.
Long mostly gloomy winter, but we might start to get some sun and tinting will bolt to the top of my list soooooooon.
Odyssey PC 680 non metal jacketed battery I took out of my Maxima
hold down is made from cutting a piece of extruded aluminum strip for mounting electronic relay bases. Stock battery, battery surround and hold down removed for about a 13lb weight savings.
Unorthodox Racing crank and alternator pulley set. Not on yet but this is my 4th purchase with them, love their quality and their results (2 Maxima's and a RX7)

The pulleys should free up about 3-4 HP
I really like the Odyssey batteries, been using them for about 11 years in my motorcycle. + in 2 different 3.5 liter Nissan V-6's.
If the PC 680 can start a 3.5 V-6 in the dead of winter, no problem with the little Fit motor.

I can send you a piece of that aluminum relay mount strip I used in the pic if that would help (no charge but I may need some detailing secrets in return ). Cus all I did was drill a hole in the battery platform to move that threaded 'J' hook closer to the smaller battery and use that strip as a hold down. Took 15 minutes to do, extremely simple!

Put on my Unorthodox pulley yesterday (almost 4 lbs off the crank vs stock)
+ the 11 lb SSR wheels = removing an additional about 30 lbs of wheel rotational weight.
the car is noticeably faster!
about 5-6 hp is freed up (removing rotational weight)
plus the car is lighter (my mods + spare and back seat are temporarily out)
my 0-60 calculates out to .66 sec faster
(stock calculates out to about 8.9 seconds, now should be 8.24 seconds AND it does feel like it!)

Lightweight is the way to go. Power will make it accelerate faster. Less weight will make it accelerate faster, brake harder, handle better, and get you some more mpg.
Wish I could afford SSR wheels though lol.
I might be getting those pulleys in the near future. How was the install? Whered you get em too?

those are 16 x 6.5 44 offset, 11.2 lbs
stock dunlops for now (they are light at 18lbs and not too bad performance wise)
Tires I want are to be released in the states this summer, around a 5% increase in MPG with these
