Frustrating Shifting(?) Issue

Hopefully I’m in the right place here. I don’t know a whole lot about cars but some google searching revealed that it seems like many of you sure the heck do! I have a 2009 Fit Sport that I drive for work. Roughly 200 miles a day. It’s got about 240k miles. A month ago my check engine light came on, my car stopped shifting and the D light started flashing. If I stopped the car and turned the ignition off and back on, the check engine light would still be on but the car would shift as normal again for a time. I took the car to my local garage and they said the cause was a faulty speed sensor. They said the Fit has two and replaced only one. The more expensive one. They returned the car to me in an only somewhat repaired condition. The D light no longer flashed but the check engine light remained on. The car would have no problems at higher speeds/gears but getting there was a problem and occasionally just wouldn’t work. The check engine light would flash and the ignition would have to be stopped and turned back on before the car resumed normal operation. Another trip to the garage. This time they said the cause was a faulty egr valve. 500 dollars to replace. I got the car back today and while there is a little more juice when you step on the gas, the exact same issue. Around 3rd gear the car stutters a bit and then may or may not shift. I can slowly ease up into higher speeds but if I try to do it quickly the check engine light starts to flash and that’s it. Obviously, this is not a workable situation and at this point I want to go to a new mechanic. I would like to have some idea of what to tell them may be wrong. That is what brings me to you fine brilliant car folk. Any ideas? I’ll answer any questions to provide info I may have left out in my ignorance.

Think about using another mechanic. If the place you are going to doesn't fix everything, makes me wonder why not.

Yup, like I said, I am going to take it to a new mechanic. I just was hoping to have an idea of what the issue could be when I took the car in.

Aside from finding a new mechanic (possibly a honda dealership), what's the maintenance history look like for upkeep?, specifically the transmission fluid?

Regular oil changes. The transmission fluid was changed last at 175k
