Catalytic converter options for Califorina

Well, I need a cat for my 2012 Sport and I live in The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. What are my options?

Will a 49 state cat bolt up and work? How is the California cat different from the 49 state one?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Wow. I just looked up a catalytic converter at Rock Auto and everyone that they offer says "Not legal in California". Before I would pay a Honda price for one, I would consider one from a junk yard.

I wonder what is different on a Peoples Republic of Kalifornia one?

What is wrong with the one that you have? I think emissions warranty on all US vehicles is 100,000 miles.

Yeah, every cat I find says will not ship to Calif or Not for California emissions. No luck with the junkyards either. My Fit has over 130k on it, so no emissions warranty for me. My check engine light that has been diagnosed as having a bad cat and that I need a new one.

I cannot find any Info that gives the Differences between the Calif one and the 49 state one. I've had no luck in even finding a photo showing the two cats side by side for comparison. I am almost positive the 49 state one will bolt to the head no problem. I'm unsure about the "piping". Will it bolt to my exhaust as is or do I need to "make it fit" my Calif exhaust setup? Are the O2 sensors in different spots? If I got a 49 state cat and used my Calif O2 sensors would the computer still throw a code?

I will need to pass a smog test in Jan 2019. So I need to get this done sooner than later.

Anyone with info please feel free to PM me if you like.

Can you talk to the parts counter guy at the dealer? He / she might be able to tell you what the difference is with the Calif unit vs 49-state unit.

Find a muffler/exhaust shop. They should be able to explain any differences and install a new cat for cheaper than the dealer.
