How Much Weight?

I drove across the country last summer with a lot of stuff in my Fit. It rode low, but handled fine and got great gas mileage. I need to drive across again, but this time with the additional weight of a paddle board on top. When does the cargo become too much for the Fit? Mine is a 2011 base model, and I had to get new shocks a month ago. The old ones weren't acting up, but they were leaking a little oil.

Gross Vehicle Weight minus Curb Weight (2496 lbs.) equals the amount of cargo + people weight that you can carry .

Gross Vehicle Weight should be listed on the driver's side frame door label.

Hope that helps.

You could angle the paddle board to catch the air and take weight off of the car while driving To be safe, the board should be slightly nose down and the nose tied down to the nose of the car to keep it aimed straight ahead.
