Why is there a class action? If Takata/Honda are issuing free replacements, how is anyone expecting to get money? What are they suing for?

 

Because Takata knew they were bad for years before telling anybody..
There had been numerous warnings about ammonium nitrate not being a
good propellant for air bags. So the layers are circling the wounded whale..

 

I guess that's one of my hangups. The only people that really benefit from class-actions are the lawyers themselves.

The money should go to people who were actually harmed by faulty bags, not people who aren't really impacted by it. My fit is actually in the shop today to get the inflator swapped out. I'm not really put out by taking my car in, I just timed it with an inspection, so just go to a dealer for this inspection instead of my normal shop.

I don't think I'm owed $500 from anyone.
