GE8 Brake Fluid, rotors, pads.

Hello All,

Hope you are enjoying your Fit as much as me. My Fit has 96k miles and figure it will be due for new brake pads soon. Being so many miles, it might need new rotors too. Figure on replacing the brake fluid. Want to go synthetic - high wet boiling point. Anybody done this yet and can recommend parts? I think its pretty insane to have brake pads lasting that long. Figure they've been 'metallicized'.

Best,
Yo

My daughter had 116,000 on her Fit so we figured that it is probably time to look at replacing the pads. Unfortunately she hit a deer and totaled it. So we will not be looking at them.

I have a Chevrolet Colorado with 130K on original pads. It all depends on how you drive. There are people out there that only get 30k on brakes. Our mail delivery lady gets 6 months on her Honda SUV. She stops in here about twice a year and we throw a set of lifetime warranty pads on her's about every 6 months. It all depends on how you drive.

Rotors after 110,000 miles were perfectly fine and still looked new on our 2009. Replaced pads only, which was easy. Use Honda brake fluid, there is no reason to switch to anything else (unless you are racing your Fit and cook the brakes on the track).

I changed my original OEM pads at 60,000 miles on a 2011 Sport AT. Wife has a 2009 CIVIC and she'll need her 3rd new set pads (all 4 wheels) after the OEMs by time it hits 100,000 miles. Totally different style when using the brake pedal. I feel like I should have a 5pt harness on when she comes up to a stop sign.
