rear underseat storage compartment repair
Hello all,
New to the Honda Fit and new to the forum, although I've lurked around for a bit.
Just traded in my 1996 Honda Civic for a 2012 Honda Fit Sport, Automatic transmission, 78,000 miles, "brushed metal" color. Loving everything about it. I have wanted a Honda Fit since they came out but had my trusty Civic.
In any case, the 'secret' storage compartment underneath the rear driver's side seat is missing the actual flap or door that allows you to store things in there. It's basically just a concave area, unable to be used for its intended purpose because the door/flap is missing.
Anyone know if it's possible to replace that? What search terms ought I to use to locate this item? Ideally I'd be able to find it on ebay or Amazon or even some random website....hoping to avoid going to a dealership, but if that's the only solution then I would take that route. Just not certain what to call that part......Googling "replacement underseat storage" and variations have yielded no results.
Thanks y'all!

i love it - i store my drivers logbook in there.
keeps my glove box completely free to store whatever i need.
i'd suggest calling your local Honda but funny thing is, a lot of the Honda staff don't even know about the secret compartment!

Why don't you go back to the dealer you bought your Fit from and talk to either the salesman that handled the sale, or the sales manager? Let them know that the door was missing when you bought the car. If it was a Honda dealership especially, they have the ability to research what part is needed to do the repair plus they can get the parts at their wholesale cost.

Fairly certain you're talking about part #25 in the page here:
REAR SEAT CUSHION for 2012 Honda FIT 5-DOOR
(look at the picture at the top of the page. the full part number seems to be "82592-TF0-J02ZA")
Online is usually cheaper than buying parts at a Honda dealer, but there is the shipping cost to factor in. I'd perhaps bring the fit to a dealer to confirm with them whether or not the missing part is indeed "82592-TF0-J02ZA" and to see what their price is.
You could also double check prices of this part (if indeed it is the one) with other online honda parts stores. For example, Bernardi also has relatively good prices with parts. I've found that heel toe auto is one of the lowest though. (i think)

When I owned my 2010 I found that space to be perfect for holding the Owners Manual. So that is what I specifically used the space for.
The whole thing did have a flimsy feel to it. But for the specific storage of the manual it was great.
Addition by subtraction. I could hold more in OTHER places because I had that place to store the manual.
Wonder why Honda discontinued the "not" so secret compartment in the Gen 3?
Especially since they simultaneously nixed the dual glove box.

I wanted more space. Here's what I did:

It's real hard to see with the seat down. Note that if you want to fold the seat flat you need to remove the box. That's OK, it slides off sideways from the lid.
