Exclamation Ouch!!! That's gonna hurt . Depreciation due to airbag(s) recall

Wonder if the possible passenger side recall is having an impact as well . Hey HONDA !!! How 'bout a helping hand to the owners like that of the Deprication Assistance Program for dealers ! Or an option for a buyback . . Click pictures to enlarge .

That seems like a very strong trade in number. Not sure what your complaint is.

The trade in value dropped by $696 in 31 days . That's not the normal rate . Almost 10 times more for a month .

Gas is cheap.

People aren't buying cars right now.

If you're that concerned with resale go buy a 93 Tercel, you'll never lose a cent.

Truth. Toyota Tacoma has the highest resale value of any vehicle sold in the US.

I drove my '08 Fit for 5 years and 100K miles before it was destroyed in a hailstorm. Insurance paid me almost $10K. No complaints here on resale value.

Okay, the same Toyota that is also impacted by the Takata airbag recall?

Along with:

Audi
BMW
Chevrolet
Chrysler
Dodge/Ram
Ford
GMC
Infiniti
Mazda
Mercedes
Mitubishi
Nissan
Saab
Saturn
Subaru
Toyota
Volkswagen

But you're right, because you're a special flower you should get money from Honda, who totally chose to give you a faulty airbag.

You aren't going to experience ant depreciation due to the airbag recall. Nearly every make and model is effected.

The whole market is low right now because of school and tax season is over.

You should just trade it in if you're so concerned with the value of your car. You'd enjoy a Ford, GM, FCA, Kia/Hyundai, VW, BMW, etc., brand and their depreciation much more.

There are ups and downs everywhere. Just think what will happen by the end of the year when the Fits airbags are all replaced and then you back up to a very nice almost issue free vehicle.

another hit to your Fits value is the gas prices..... very few people want a small compact car when they can have a truck or suv. Small compacts being bought up in droves is an effect of high gas prices. resale value and trade in value as you most likely are aware is based on market demand. Right now sadly, demand is not in the compact car market. things will turn around, its what it is called a buyers market right now. The Airbag is really the only technical issue wrong with the fit, and there is a fix trying to be implemented.

plus, trading in a vehicle almost guarantees you taking a tiny amount for your car. you have a 2013, unless its a lease, why are you so intent on getting rid of it 3 years after you bought it?

I had a '93 Tercel. Great car. Not a Honda, but a great car.

Also, I think if the recall is performed, then you have about the same value as you would have had without the recall because the recall removes the issue. Or am I missing something here? I'm on the Lotus boards. Lotus = lotsa recalls. And those cars sold Used are still very valuable, especially if the recalls have been performed.

What are you, a car dealer? It's a machine, not inventory- buy the car you want/need to drive. Then resale value is irrelevant.
