New exhaust coming in...again

I haven't been on here in a long time.

Wow.

Anyway, I finally broke down and ordered my third exhaust for my GE8. I ordered the Yonaka cat-back. I've been to the two big shops here in town and neither one seems to be able to make a cat-back for this car that doesn't hit some part of the car underneath, and rather than go back to stock for nearly 200, just buy a whole new off-the-shelf cat-back. I'll take pictures and post a video up.

Question

I received the exhaust via UPS.

Gaskets were supplied with the exhaust, but the opening for the gasket is smaller than the opening for the flange. Is this normal? Should I bother matching the gasket to the flange, or just leave it alone? I've never exactly dealt with a bolt-on exhaust before, so that's my main question. If it's not worth the hassle, I won't deal with it.

Do you still have both cats on the car? I have both of mine off and a custom setup and the drone is too much.

It drones enough with this setup. I still have the cats.

My only question now is whether to reuse the cat nuts or not.

I ended up reusing the cat studs...

Car drones a lot less at idle and low speed. Exhaust sounds okay. It's a little raspy, but but not as bad as some. It sounds very throaty and aggressive. The fitment is excellent, no bumping or anything.

My only advice is to use small c clamps to trial fit the flanges THEN tighten. Some of the bolts/nuts bump the welds slightly.

Sweet! Thought about going with Yonaka but decided to go Tanabe with a T1R Mid Pipe. Can't wait for some videos and pictures!

I decided Tanabe Medallion Touring as well. I've decided if i go with Weapon R header, In wont go with a aftermarket B-pipe in the name of less power but less droan. That exhaust looks great but i heard it after a fellow member added the header and wholly exhaust popping batman!!! It was loud....lol. I would have to say one would never know from looking at the tip which it was (Tanabe or Yonaka). Keep the board posted. I just remind other members when listening to video of exhausts, use a computer with a good speaker system or some good JBL, Beats, etc headsets to get the fulllness of the sound. This goes for the person video'g too. Dont have your phone all up the exhaust pipes are in the wind. Samsungs less but iPhones more tend to not void out the sounds were not looking to hear. Just keep in mind dont record on very WINDY days unless recording with the wind and not against it ;-). Now with that, keep the members interested in this exhaust system posted/updated.
