Arrow American Honda depreciation assistance program to dealers for trade ins

with the defective air bags . This an undisclosed amount of cash given to Honda dealers . Has anyone used this for their trade or know of the cash amount ? Here's part of the document on page 4 at safercar.gov , http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs...6V061-2594.pdf , originally from Honda corporation to their dealers . Click To Enlarge
. This cash assistance should also be made available for owners of affected vehicles or both parties . Maybe if enough people call Honda and ask for cash assistance it'll be put into place . If so , it should apply to Honda or other car manufacturers ( Toyota , Hyundai , etc. ) .

Ooooh nice find! I really like the Hyundai Elantra, Mazda 3 and Subaru Impreza; but the new Civic is almost as good as a Hyundai that I would consider if the price is right.

Talked to a few dealers and each stated the Depreciation Assistance Program ( D.A.P. ) from American Honda covers their financial being with affected vehicles traded in and kept on their lot until fix . They also said it helps the owner of an affected vehicle(s) from getting a lesser trade value ( ) and least likely to be turned away . What the amount allowed to the dealer is a mystery . Would prefer Honda giving its customers / owners assistance towards loan(s) for their vehicle(s) or cash toward another Honda or possibly other car manufacturer . What you think the fair amount should be ? We think $1,000 per vehicle . I do believe D.A.P. is a must for the dealers as well .

This is a new article from Automotive News regarding Depreciation Assistance Program for Honda / Acura dealers , https://www.autonews.com/article/201...#disqus_thread . How about the owner of 1 or more affected by air bag recall ? Does not help those wanting to trade in towards other make such as Toyota , etc.. Honda dealers could still use this to their advantage by getting assistance of an unknown amount and give a lower trade . Does not help those with a loan(s) of impacted vehicles . . Also wandered upon this , few years old , but applies to the current . Compensation for Vehicle Owners with Defective Takata Airbags | Phoenix Legal Examiner | Phoenix Arizona Personal Injury Lawyer . It's wrong to be given a choice of only Honda dealers for affected trade ins thanks to D.A.P. said to benefit both parties . It's very likely Toyota , Mazda and other car makers will either turn you away or give a poor trade value since they have a RECALLED car on the lot that potential buyers may balk at . Wouldn't a cash assistance to owners wanting to rid their vehicle save HONDA corporation money from having to pay for rentals / loaner vehicles at $40 ( < or > ) a day for an unkown amount of time ? Kind of silly , that could be thousands saved .

I am just now seeing this. I read about the Honda T.A.P. Trade Assistance online as well as the D.A.P. Depreciation Assistance Program which I think is for the Dealers holding cars that cannot be sold until fixed. If anyone trades in their Honda or finds out how much this incentive is please post. I could just call the dealer but sometimes when you talk to sales they just don't know or can't give you a straight answer.

Thanks!

I think it could save Honda money, and probably not many will take advantage since it's only an airbag recall. If it was catastrophic like the Hyundai Sonata engine failure it will be a different story.

After looking at my options, I really, really doubt that I am going to trade mine in and I'm just going to garage my Fit till it goes in for the recall.

I agree. I literally purchased my Fit last December so I've literally only had it a few months before this recall put it on the "do not drive" sentence it is currently suffering in my driveway.

I do not see this affecting the depreciation or the resale value once the parts have been replaced. I mean I could always slap a racing wheel on there and eliminate the airbag in it's entirety. *shrug*.

I do hope this program will help those who want to trade in their Fits for the airbag recall or any other. It will not help me either way as I'll still be upside down on my loan, not to mention I thoroughly enjoy my Fit.
