Where do you go?

That shouldn't matter. I bought my car near New York and now live in Nashville, so I went to a dealer in Nashville and they hooked me up with a loaner car from Avis.

Don't start your car every week! You'll put condensation in the exhaust, motor, oil...

You should instead buy a battery tender and use that.

+1 car collectors found this out years ago, idling is NOT enough to heat the engine like driving at highway speed. Bigger collectors use drive-on dynamometers to get this done.

Fresh oil, Fresh Fuel with the Marine Stabil in it. Top the tank off a bit, less air means less fuel oxidation.

Put an extra 5 to 10 lbs of air in the tires too.

I usually use jack stands to take weight off the tires, not completely just enough to partially uncompress the suspension.

On cars stored over a few months, hand rotate the engine 1/4 turn about every 4 months to put pressure on a different set of valve springs.

Then I think I need to buy battery tender to save my battery. Is this battery tender good for Fit?

I think the airbags will work their way north. They will be distributed in the Deep South first, then hopefully into North Carolina, then to dryer and cooler climes.

How does one hand rotate an engine?

But the Junior will also work for Fit correct? Since I live in CA, the Tender Plus cost about $56 compared to Junior which is $27.

Went to my local Honda Dealer to pick up some parts and the Service Tech told me: "A little birdie told me that the airbag recall parts should be arriving within the next week or two. It'll take a day or two for the parts to arrive once ordered, and about 90 minutes to 2 hours to install."

Take that with a grain of salt but figured I'd mention nonetheless.

When calling my case manager the other day I tried to inquire about where the new bags would appear first, as it's known that those in high humidity ares are the most prone to catastrophic failures. I wanted to let them know that, unbeknownst to many, Bellingham, WA has the highest average humidity of any city over pop. of 50,000 in the country. I was told that they would not release the parts until ALL of the replacements were in stock.

I like that one, too. I've been using it for years.

I guess I'm not up-to-date on the latest California Compliant issues. This is the first I've heard.

Keep the battery charged so you don't screw up your battery.

Death in Texas Last Week

Tenth U.S. death from Takata inflator reported in Texas - Takata Corp. ADR (OTCMKTS:TKTDY) | Seeking Alpha

I'm not panicking, but I thought I would share this.

It says it was an '02 Civic. It says the owner was mailed "multiple recall notices." It does not say whether or not replacement parts were available at the time of the death.

Yes: an older Civic. Yesterday at the dealer, the service guy told me that "not one, not a single one" of the problems with the bags was on a Honda FIT. The sales person then verified that fact. Most, they say, are in older Civics.
Still, they are trained to tell us that we had better heed our letters. It gives one a queasy feeling.

I think this is probably true. They'll start south and work their way up. I doubt they'll wait until millions of airbags are on hand before releasing them. I'm sure they don't want to keep paying for rentals, for one thing.
I wonder how all this is going to affect their bottom line?

Takata Airbag Death in Texas Spurs Renewed Push on Car Recalls - Fortune

Another one...... I agree that Honda et al should do more than send out a single mailing. Ads should be taken out in papers and certain magazines. TV ads should be aired. There are too many people who haven't gotten the message.
