L15B Swap

I'm going to go ahead and make the thread now. All this talk of hipsters driving GKs has me excited for some totaled cars.

I know some of you are awesome at searching parts compatibility or have access to Honda stuff us lowly peasants don't.

Possible/unpossible? What say you?

I would say its possible like any engine swap, it just boils down to how much money are you willing to invest into the project.

If Honda has shown me anything over the years a lot of the L motor parts should be fairly interchangeable. Here is to hopping it is easy to swap parts over from the newer fit to the older ones

I would be more curious if a head swap would be possible on the l15a1. I'm also hopeful that the head has some beefier ports so that it can be opened up more so that the sohc.

Unless you're trying to improve gas mileage, wouldn't it be easier and probably cheaper to just bolt on something like the Sprintex supercharger? That would give you a lot more power than the ~10% gain you would get from just the newest Fit engine.

I mean if the block is relatively unchanged (I'm assuming since they kept the "L" designation) then it should bolt up fairly easily? I am not sure about transmission, if the 5 speed would bolt up... using the 6MT and GK axles should be too big of a deal i'd think, maybe i'm wrong on that which is part of why I wrote this.

I'm looking more towards the future when my motor is tired and time to be tossed. Also it'd be a smog legal swap in CA and I could get the motor BAR'd. It's no K but at least it's DOHC with a little more power. If they get the Sprintex CARB approved and all the kinks worked out that'd be an option too for the A7 but i'd still need to rebuild the motor at that point.

Ultimately it comes down to how much work it would be which is part of the reason for this thread. Maybe too soon but I figured it'd come up soon anyway.

This would be also interesting in a GD chassis that I own. Kinda boils down the electrical stuff too.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea. I'm at 127,000miles so I'm debating between motor swap or rebuild.
