17s or 18s

Hello fellow Fit Owners. I would like to request for your help on the proper rim/size tire size without rubbing. Just a background, I own a Honda Fit 2010 model. I used to have a 195/60/R15. I changed it however to 195/50/R15 as I had slight rubbing issues when going through bumps in the front after I lowered it using Tanabe NF1 lowering springs.

I would want to know your thoughts as I am planning to get bigger rims. One is a 17x7 +42 and anther is an 18. If I go the 17 route, I'm thinking of using a 205/40/17 or 215/40/17. If 18, based on the posts here I can only go 215/35/R18 but this is only .8% smaller from the 195/60/R15 on which I had rubbing issues. Any thoughts on the proper tire size?

Thanks!

Aside from the fitment issue, I think 17s look more natural on the small frame of the Fit. 18's are too big IMO, unless of course your turning it into a showcar or something.

Not that I have any first hand experience.....yet, but I would agree. I would think 17's would strike a nice balance between looks, performance, and ride quality. I bet 18's would be a little on the harsh side because the sidewalls of the tires would be so short. I'm planning on going 17x7 with 205/45/R17 tires on mine eventually.
