I honestly don't understand why everyone thinks the 09 looks like a minivan, but the 08 doesn't

Not to mention the irony of an econo-station-wagon owner attempting to pigeon-hole some other vehicle as mundane. Pot, meet kettle.

How could anyone here possibly know the answer? The 09 isn't due till October. Aside from a couple of photographs and car shows, no one here has had the remotest opportunity to try to make parts from 2 completely different cars FIT on each other.

woo easy with the hate post's.

we have alot of foreign people on here from other countries that do have this chassis out and i dont know if youve noticed from the pics but these cars have stuff done to them??? I highly doubt a company can r&d suspension this fast along with the endless big brake kit. its just a question thats y we have forumns

It was not intended to be a hate post and I apologize if you thought/think it was.

It's been well documented in this thread that the rest of the world (outside North America) are getting a slightly different vehicle as far as the front bumper, fenders & rear bumper are concerned. As well as several engine choices that include the all new 1.5L that will come to the US. I suppose that it might be possible to swap over the suspension, but it has been posted here that the suspension has been redesigned, so probably not. I also highly doubt the cat-backs can be swapped as well due to a completely new engine with integrated cat. Again, maybe it will all swap over, but since pretty much the only thing that hasn't been redesigned/refreshed is the name (newly designed emblem) I highly doubt it.

Exhaust~ Different... will not work on new GE platform..

Suspension~ Different.... looks close in the front but very different in lenght.... and the rear sus is very different... much longer shocks....

I was able to do a comparison with my GD3 Tein coilovers when I bought a set for a GE8.... plus the spring rates are very different

JMHO, I think for most who have the '07-'08 versions, there is a distinct style difference in the front of the car from what pics we've seen of the '09, which is much more sleek and appearance than the current model. The headlamps on the current model make it unique and I can tell you it is one the main reasons I bought the '08 three weeks ago, rather than waiting on the '09.
I personally think the '09 is/will be very sharp and sleek indeed, but I think the front re-design does give it more of what we are already use to in other cars. I will have to see it in person but from all pics I've seen, and I've seen a lot, are reminiscent of the Odyssey in some ways. The rear design is improved in the '09, IMO, but the more rounded box design only fuels the mini-van argument when combined with a more sleek and angled front end.
I love the interior upgrades, improved ride/stability, and options that I'm hearing will be offered in the '09, and for some, thats enough to sell them on the '09 version completely.

I weighed back & forth on purchasing an '08 rather than waiting on the '09. But after seeing one up close, driving it, I decided that the uniqueness of the current model actually swayed me in my decision. I was going to have leather interior put in anyway whether I purchased on '09 or an '08, so interior quality was not an issue. I like the '08 dash, interior roominess, etc.
I will be envious of the in-dash Navi that is available in the new version, but I can and will have a Navi system in my '08 which will serve my purpose.
Both have mini-van or wagon type body styles, but the current model does have a unique headlamp design and front body curvature that is lost on the new model.
I think as the new models are released and people can actually see it in person and some new Fit owners begin modding, it will become more popular among current Fit owners. Lets face it, hatchbacks generally always remind everyone of a wagon or van anyway. The Mazda Speed3 looks like a station wagon, a sporty one but its still a wagon and I like it too.
IMO, you can't go wrong with either Fit version. I like both for different reasons. I would def consider buying the '09 in a few years, if/when I'm ready to trade again. Prolly by then, it will be redesigned again, lol.
Just my thoughts.

Hello,

I am new here, so maybe this has been answered, but I could not find it. Does anyone know what the rpm's will be at 55, 60, 65 for the mt or at in the new 2009 Fit?

Thanks!
