I've been calling a few of the local Honda dealerships, and nobody can really give me any solid info. A few are supposed to call me when they find out about color/pricing options and when brochures are in.

I see the projected mpg on the 2009 is 28 mpg city/34 which is almost what the Yaris is rated at. Real world mpg should exceed this then. This might be enough to get me to switch.

Looks like VSA is packaged only when you get the NAVI option. What happened to "Safety for Everyone"?

That's the same as the 07/08 MT Fit which sounds accurate because a representitive for the new Fit said the mileage would remain about the same even with the increased HP.

I do feel that the new Fit should have exceeded these numbers especially considering that the bigger, more powerful Civic is rated at 36
mpg highway (although gets a lower 25 city). Plus, extra progress should be happening with fuel prices getting out of hand.

It seems automakers have hit a wall for fuel efficiency gains (excluding hybrids). Look at each of the last several generations of Civic, Corolla, Accord, Camry ect...they all have comparable mileage. Perhaps because they keep getting bigger, but still...

So VSA is needed to make a car safe? The Fit is a damn safe car even without VSA. That said, I'm getting the navi anyway, so I guess I'll take VSA (I'll probably turn it off half the time though, it just depends).

Just look at the weight increase with each new generation of cars...
look at the sizes.. park a 90s Accord next to the new one..

These cars are obviously made for US market too... why do we need cars
this big anyways?? Are bigger cars always means better cars?

the current fit does great as far as city mileage goes, so i'd rather see a bump in highway mileage. if the rating is 28/35, that puts it at 3mpg better in the city and only one mpg worse on the highway than the civic.

all this while getting more hp is commendable.

I don't know if it's screwed up marketing info or what but car manufactures should start offing America some of the choices Europe gets. If they brought there cars with the modern 4 cylinder diesel engines in them people would start buying them. The diesels get better mileage than the hybrids and run just as clean. The lack of cars with manual transmissions is crazy too. Look what Smart did, they bring the Fortwo to America and put a turbo engine which requires premium gas and it has a crap simi-auto transmission and gets less mpg than a Yari for $3,000 more.

Cheap, clean efficient transportation is what they should be bring here.

Too bad Diesel is running almost $5.00 per gallon now though. Is it really a good idea?

Stability control is a proven technology that saves lives. They should have at least packaged it with all Sport models; it shouldn't be tethered to an option like NAVI.

You see that from this site from a user or from a credible source?

I agree. You should not have be forced to get a NAV system just because you want VSA. Either make it standard or at least a stand alone option but not in a bundle like NAV.

All of those packages are awesome in their own way! I love the versatility of the car. Just wish we had those choices here.

But most of the car buyers in NA simply don't view the Fit as that viable of a vehicle. It's just an "economy-minded tiny import hatch with decent gas mileage, now where can I get my Escalade with 22s?" kinda of mentality here.

Unfortunately, we won't get these packages in the U.S.

Why do Civics have better mpg than Fit anyways?
The 09 Fit should have the same engine technology as the new Civic
right?

JD Powers:

The current Fit’s 109-hp, 1.5-liter engine is rated at 28 mpg city/34 mpg highway in the U.S. Expect the new Fit to meet or exceed those numbers.
