2009 Fit

i'd say that the heated seats and climate control are at the top of my creature comfort list. once you've had them, you realize how nice they are to have... hardly gimmicky, they work quite well i think!

The JDM Fit wasn't doing it for me (just looked *too* squished), but the USDM version looks GREAT! I still love my 08, but you gotta hand it to Honda for addressing a lot of little things here and there. The rear headrests reducing blind spots and the fact that you can fold the seats flat without fudging with the lever on the front seats is terrific.
Hope you can buy the Fit Sport w/o nav. That usually adds another $1500 to the price. You're probably talking an $18k Fit Sport w/ nav. Save that and spend a few hundred and get an aftermarket unit with traffic and portability. Audio controls on the wheel is nice... wish we had that now!
Agreed about the auto climate control. And still no center console/armrest?
Supply better be stepped up this time around, too. Good God, was I pissed about the 07 trickle. Chalk up another winner for Honda, though!

^^^ Man, if it ends up scraping $19k, that puts it nearly on-par with a fully loaded Civic EX, right? Here we go again... what will replace the Fit as the entry-level Honda? I say that half-jokingly.
And I see that there *is* a folding armrest (for the driver)... just no center storage.
My last 3 cars have had auto climate control (AV6, STI, WRX), and it's actually quite nice to set things to a certain temp and let the car adjust how much of cold/warm air to blow. Had no idea that in Japan, ACC costs as much as nav. Wow.

I've never owned a vehicle with climate control, but my wife's Prius has it, and I must say, I find myself turning it up and down, up and down just like the heat/air in any other car I've owned. The two things I wanted most in this model we aren't getting, and that would be the glass roof and the armrest.

You got your armrest. On one of the new usdm pictures, I'm pretty sure I saw a fold down armrest. But, of course I can't find the pic now. The full specs and options, along with what the base fit looks like are still not known. So we may get the glass roof.
Looks like the auto show only has a Sport on display. I thought there would be at least one of each. (Base and Sport)
I'm gonna go on Sat. to check it out. Also curious if the vanity mirror is on the proper side.

I would sure like to know what the EPA fuel mpg ratings are and the MSRP?
Also wonder if the did away with the TBW and the high rev Man trans gear ratio....
Is it me or does the extended nose look off and not near as cool as the 2008's

Honda L-Series SOHC i-VTEC Engines for the new GD Honda Fit/Jazz
Actually it's now the GE series, not GD.

Unfortunately, I don't see improved fuel economy unless Honda did something interesting with their new L15A SOHC i-VTEC engine. Between the higher weight of the North American market model and our more "realistic" EPA fuel economy measurements, I expect the fuel economy to be about the same as the current model (circa 27 mpg city, 34 mpg highway using the current EPA measurements).

I, of course didn't build or test the car. So I can't give you much argument.
But other sites that did test the car said that it got better mileage. I believe two sites said so. You might check out the Edmunds review, as they drove it, but I don't recall if they said much about mpg.

Other links, I have misplaced. I have a few videos on the 2009 (2008 in Japan), but can't do anything with them here with them.
If anyone knows of any other links involving this new fit, I would love to hear about it. Anything: reviews, tuning parts, videos.
Thanks
maybe the r in r90s stands for research freek....
P.S.
Link with high-res photos, if you push a few buttons, of a red 2009 USDM fit. Shows much detail...

Its not just you. I like almost everything else on the new Fit, but from the side it looks like a grazing rhinoceros. Oh, and why is the window line so far below the highest part of the hood?

Here's a question, is the 2009 USDM fit going to have a longer nose than the JDM verison, just like the 1st gen?
I like the look of the JDM one and its definately going to be a problem trying to find aftermarket body kits that fit.
