2009 Fit

In regards to the 2009 Fit that will replace the current model (probably late spring/early summer 2008)--don't be surprised that Honda offers a four-door sedan in addition to the five-door hatchback for the USA market. Four-door sedans still are very popular sellers in the USA market, and now that Honda will switch to a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine (essentially an L15A with the SOHC i-VTEC valvetrain used on the R18 engine probably rated at around 118-122 bhp), the Fit will offer enough power for a four-door sedan.

Yeah honestly I love my '07. There are minor things I wish would have been done, but overall its great. I wouldn't change the styling at all. Thats not to say I might not buy another one later but I'm happy with what I have now. Even if they released a huge redesign tomorrow I'd still be happy.

The pics I posted looks like this is what the next gen Fit/Jaz will look like. There doesn't seem like a drastic change but smoother lines, smaller headlights look like projectors. The rear looks short and the body lines that slant on the doors is a bit odd.

At least some of the photos are the same ones from 2007 model. A/T Sport MSRP is more than $16K (a magical number in the insurance industry). $16665 with destination -- I guess the price went up? The VW Rabbit is +$500 for 2008 too.

i wish they made the new fit with a 1.8 L engine like the scion xd, the new XD has the same mpg as the fit, and somehow has an extra 20 hp...its kinda a slap in the face for fit owners, but at least our cars dont look fugly as hell as the XDs, just wish the performance was a lil better

Also, Honda is keenly aware of the flop that they had experienced with the previous generation JDM Civic (hatchback one - was never in NA) that had 1.7 L.

Yea...I wonder how come there is no spy/testing shots of the new Fits yet even if it is covered up.

Considering that every worker at Suzuka has a cellphone with a camera, Honda is doing a remarkable job keeping everything under the wrap. By this time, for most models, a photo or two would leak out of the factory, since, with less than two months to go before an official release, the line should have seen more than a few samples come up. Honda must be body-searching the workers (I'm not kidding - they do pocket inspections).
In less than a month, assuming that the planned Japan release date is still on, Honda will start assembling the initial lots of the all-new Fit to build up inventories to deliver to dealerships. By that time, the vehicles will be sitting in the open staging areas, so spy photos should become readily available then.
