Offer on new 2013 Sport
Is this offer any good. 2013 sport 5speed , mudguard , pinstripes, wheel locks. This is their first offer via internet/phone. This is the first dealer I've got a confirmed out the door. Thanks for any advice. [IMG]http://[/IMG]

This is a sport so they shouldn't even be charging for parts not made for the model.

Lmao totally agree this is just what he said. I don't like pin striping ether. And I think he meant mud flaps? Also part of the fee was "locators fee" which is bs also.

All the cars come with wheel locks, why are they adding that on extra? At least, at my dealership, where I bought a sport AT and then later a base MT. This is a decent price overall, not great, but the extras are kinda silly. This late in the game it seems they should be a bit cheaper, but that's just me. If you want the car and you're fine paying that, don't sweat it, its not a total rip off.

The added accessories and documentation fees are just dealer profit. The documentation fees are not government fees and it does not cost them $400 to submit your title application (which is paid for in govt fees).
So what you're paying is $17,470 before taxes tag and title.
This is "average" according to truecar.com ($17382) and high according to KBB.com's average ($16,946). These prices are adjusted for Charlotte zip 28205.
Also the 2015 is a major model change and coming out in a couple months. Dealers will be making deals on 2013s (there is no 2014 model).
Their offer isn't bad, but it's not great. I'd keep shopping and look for an offer in the low 16s plus TTT.

don't tell them you have your own financing. One of the first questions will be, "Are you going to finance with us?" Tell them sure, if the rate is good. They will take this into consideration when negotiating a price. Most of their profits are on financing and service. After you have a signed sales contract you can pay for it however you want.
Beware of the finance guy (google F&I guy). He's a shark. Don't buy extended warranties, service contracts, or nitrogen tire fills. Just say no to all that crap.
Locally I've seen 0.8% financing offers on Hondas so don't pay too much for financing. The interest rate is negotiable with the dealer if you do finance with them.

Its hard to keep it all straight mentally when you go to buy a car - but almost everything about the transaction is a variable. One thing I learned, is that it doesn't hurt to let them know you're shopping around at other dealerships. Even when you find a better deal, if you have the patience, you can go back to them (if you even like a Fit with pinstriping) and let them know the deal you found, see if they'll beat it. I did that on my CR-V, and I didn't lie to anyone about anything, I let everyone know I was shopping around and the deals the other places were offering me, and I had two dealerships calling me one morning, and they each kept lowering the price. I ended up getting $4.5K OFF the price of the CR-V I bought in 2010. I couldn't believe it. But I had one advantage, patience. It was only one full day, but they all want that number of monthly sales to beat the other dealerships.
But yes, those fees are lame. I try and ignore it all and just look at the total cost and work backwards... ok, the total is high, so what aspect of their workup do I want to start with calling them on bs to get that total down.

Newest offer was $17600 and they will give me $7500 on my trade (worth about $5k-$6k kbb trade in). Car is worth more retail but I know how that goes. Which if that's the case they really are bringing the car only down $1500 ish. When in all actuality they will be making more money off my trade in too. I Hate these number games. One dealership is pushing an auto at the same price. I guess they really want to clear their lot of it. That is a better deal but I really prefer manual drives. I have a 2009 Chevy hhr 2.4L 2LT and I owe $3400. I don't really like the car but it could be worse... Maybe.

What dealership are you buying from? I have bought 2 Hondas at Scott Clark off independence. Try to deal with Carlos Z. If possible. I dint deal with him on my Fit and I regretted it.
As mentioned before, the acces charge is BS. Don't pay for any of it and they can remove the pinstripe if they want your business.
