Need help restoring power to glovebox USB with aftermarket radio
I have a 2013 Fit - I installed a Pioneer MVH-X360BT Digital Media Receiver
to get bluetooth for phone calls. The install went well and everything is working.
My issue is that now that I don't have the stock radio anymore, the USB charger/connector in the upper glove box no longer has power.
There is a disconnected cable coming from the USB cable from the glove box that is just sitting behind the fancy new radio, but nowhere to connect it
Can anyone help me find a way to restore power to the the USB cable so that it can charge things? I don't need it to connect to anything, I just want to use the cable as a charger.
Thanks

the original USB cable has a proprietary plug that went to the USB module on the OE radio, which in turn had a proprietary plug going to the radio.
There's no way to make it work short of cutting open the cable and carefully determining the power wires, and providing a switched 5v power supply that is fed from 12vDC.
You're better off buying an aftermarket USB power plug, connecting this to 12v behind the dash, and running a standard USB cable from this through the upper glove box.
Not sure it's worth the trouble for a charging point that doesn't connect it to the radio for playing through the new head.

Or a better option - go with this Pioneer for just $30 more: Pioneer MVH-X560BT Digital media receiver at Crutchfield.com Essentially the same unit but with a rear USB.
