Extended Warranty Contract Tax and Effective Date
So I'm seeing conflicting information. Saccucci Honda says they don't charge sales tax on the extended warranty for the Fit. But my dealer in Seattle swore up and down that EVERYONE had to charge sales tax on warranty. He matched Saccucci's price basically for 8 yr 120k. But, I still had to pay tax. Can anyone clarify? If I can get it through Saccucci without tax, I'll cancel this one and save $100 by going through Saccucci.
Also, I'm wondering if I should cancel the warranty and not buy it until maybe 6 months or few thousand miles before factory expires. Thoughts?
Thanks

You might want to work up quote with Bob Leab here: Hyannis Honda Care
When I was looking, he beat them all in price. It was a straight up price quote. No tax mentioned. I decided in the end to forego an extended warranty. Didn't see the value in it.

exactly, in 2001 i bought a 2000 Honda Accord used. it was a demo car and it was my first self-bought car and of course i was pwned up the wazoo with pricing. i even got the warranty. never once had to use it. problems only came up 12 years later and 170k miles. warranty ran out way before that.

Yeah, what I'm wondering is if I can cancel the Honda warranty, and then reinstate it through another seller.

I wouldn't be too quick to cancel until they answer that question. You could call Honda direct as well. Good luck!

I went with the extended warranty (96 months/120k) for peace of mind.
My brother was telling me the other day that the defroster on his 5-year old Volkswagen cost $1,500 to fix (they had to take the dashboard out). He was kicking himself for not getting any extended coverage.
As always with insurance, it's a crapshoot.
