External Temperature Gauge??

We've got a 2010 Fit, and the only thing I really hate about it is that it does not have an external temperature gauge. I'm missing it especially now as the temperature hovers around the freezing mark - it would be nice to know what the temperature is outside so one knows whether to expect black ice or not. I'm wondering if anyone has successfully installed an accurate temperature gauge for external temperatures. I know that the Honda Civic has one, but apparently you can't adapt that one for a fit. Any suggestions? If you did install one, where did you get the gauge, is it wired or wireless, was it hard to install (or did you get it installed), and are the temperatures accurate?

Thank you

use your smartphone. if you have android, get an app called weatherbug and it will not only show you temp at the top menu bar at all times, you can set up radar as live wall paper.

if not get those gentex type self dimming mirrors with temperature.

you can get a universal temp gauge, most likely it will be titled under "ambient temperature gauge"

I am kind of bummed out that the Fit doesn't come with an external temp guage. I will probably pick up a auto dimming mirror with the temp built in.

Bummed? How about spoiled? This is an Ecobox not a BMW.

This is what I will be installing in the near future. I live in a state that occasionally gets to the freezing point so it is nice that the mirror has a "near freezing" indicator built in. Hope this helps!

yep, i feel the same. wish it came with one that shows up in the cluster screen. even if it was an option on the car for sport trim or something.

Thanks. I use my butt as temp gauge. When it freezes when it hits the Clazzios and I know I should turn the heated seat on and maybe slow down a bit as roads could be slippery.

Seriously, what do Bavarian automobiles and your sexual orientation have to do with wanting an outside temperature gauge?!

Seriously? The point I was trying to make is the Fit is an Econobox so don't expect to find a temp gauge that would be common on a higher end vehicle. Geesch!

The only way to get an external readout on your gauge cluster would be to install a European or JDM gauge cluster and wire the outside temp sensor to it. (Which you would also have to get)

Temps can vary by several degrees in nearby locations so relying on a temp gauge to tell you when it's below freezing can be highly inaccurate. Especially in the morning when it may have warmed up a bit but the ice hasn't melted yet.

I recommend licking the outside of your car. If your tongue sticks it's probably not safe to drive.

Yes but that temp gauge had a Toyota stuck to it not a Honda. If I want to know what the temp is I will get in the Caravan and check it.
