Engine Gurgle

Engine Gurgle
Hi,
I'm looking for some help. Recently, My engine makes this gurgling sounds. It is a constant gurgle that's easier to hear when it's idling. The gurgling completely STOPS when the AC compressor cycles ON. I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what it is. I've tried "burping" the coolant and recharging the AC. So far, nothing has worked. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Does it sound like liquid? Check the coolant level. There's an overflow tank attached to the radiator between the cooling fans. This should have fluid in it between the low/high marks. If this got low it may have allowed air into the cooling/heater system. Once you're sure the coolant level is correct, there may be air in the heater core. Turn up the heat to high and let it run a while, this should allow trapped air out of the heater core. If the coolant level was low, keep an eye on it, this normally shouldn't drop that much. Might be a leak.
Could be refrigerant, some refrigerant continues to flow after the compressor shuts off for a while (seconds?) Turn off the A/C for a few minutes to rule this out. Shouldn't be a problem either way.
But check your radiator coolant level. If this gets too low it could damage the engine. By then you'll have the "HOT" indicator on but it may be too late...

hi steve,
Thanks for your reply. I've checked the coolant level in both the reservoir and radiator and topped off as necessary. I've tried bleeding the air out of the coolant by running the car with the radiator cap off and heat on high. Regarding the AC, the weird part is that the noise actually stops when the AC is on. Any other ideas, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
