Nav system replacement

Hey All-

We have an '09 Sport w/factory NAV package. The volume control doesn't adjust the sound accurately, and the pointer in the upper right-hand corner has stopped working. So, two questions:

1. Has anyone had their factory NAV repaired? Possible? Expensive?

2. I'd like specific recommendations on replacements, in the $500-800 price range. Many of the recommendations I've found here are no longer offered.

Thanks!

dave

It's probably possible to bring it to a local electronics repair shop to have them repair the Navi, but for what you're going to probably pay to have it fixed, you could just buy a used one on ebay for cheaper. Or even put up a WTB thread in the classified and see if any one has their Nav for cheap.

You could also buy a Navi unit from a different Honda off ebay and get more features, etc while still retaining that OEM appearance, something like what this guy did ---> CR-V Navigation + JDM Reverse Camera Accessory on a USDM CR-Z - Honda CRZ Forum: Honda CR-Z Hybrid Car Forums

Or just get an aftermarket one, like most people do.

Yes, I would like to go aftermarket but I'd really appreciate some recommendations. There are a bunch on ebay, but many from China, which scares me. And, what about map updates? Nobody seems to address that.
Thanks

You gotta search the site... there's plenty of DIY's/review of various HU. Unofficial Honda FIT Forums - aftermarket navi Search Results

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...lots-pics.html

Even a few for those Chinese ebay specials... https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...termarket+navi

Afaik, the brands like Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, JVC, etc offer free lifetime upgrades of the maps.

Personally in this case I'd go to crutchfield to get it... it won't be the cheapest, but it will be the best/easiest. You'll get the basic wiring harnesses, and their customer support will help you with the install.

Just talked to Crutchfield. They don't have an install package for my Fit, and so would require fabricating the whole plastic piece around the unit (faceplate?), something the Crutchfield Rep said he wouldn't recommend.

The guys at crutchfield are idiots if they told you that.

For FIT owners with no navigation we have to buy the finisher piece that YOU currently have on your car since your car already comes with factory navigation.

The only things you will need for your car in order to install an aftermarket unit is the antenna adapter, wiring harness and the navigation unit itself. You already have the correct finisher piece and brackets as I mentioned.

I currently have the Pioneer AVIC X930BT and I love it, couldn't be happier. It's a few years old now and has been replaced by a newer model, but still works great. Map updates are available for purchase when they become available through pioneer.

I would suggest looking at current models such as the AVIC-X850BT or the AVIC-X950BH as they come standard with navigation and Bluetooth.

One of the nice features I like is that you can stream your music through Bluetooth on these units.

Currently pioneer has $100 or $75 rebates on either unit you choose. Hope that helps.

My 2009 Honda Fit Navigation system quit reading the navigation disc.
Honda insisted I buy a new disc to check if that was not the problem.
I bought 3 years of disc support when I purchased the disc. When it turned out that the disc was not the problem but the system was at fault I was promised a return of my money if I sent the disc back. $300. still has not been credited to our account.

I asked how much to replace the system and was told $5,000. that is five thousand.
To send it off to be repaired I was told it would be $500.

Needless to say I am very upset and disappointed with HONDA at this time.

Does anyone know of a second source market for the Navigation System for a 2009 Honda Fit ?

If so, I would like to know about it.
Thanks,

Thumbs up

from 2009 HONDA FIT|

39540-TK6-325ZANAVIGATION UNIT *NH699L* (AVN-DVD)(COO) (ALPINE) (NEUTRAL MAT GUN METALLIC)1$5,268.10$3,698.21 39540-TK6-325ZANAVIGATION UNIT *NH699L* (AVN-DVD)(COO) (ALPINE) (NEUTRAL MAT GUN METALLIC)1$5,268.10$3,698.21

So the dealership is charging you ~ $1000 for install???
Run away from that dealership, and never go back.

If you really want to keep the OEM Navi, I'd suggest sending wafulz a pm and seeing how much he want for his Navi.... or if you still want Honda OEM, buy a Honda Navi off ebay (from a different model), and mod it to work...

Might as well buy an aftermarket...

@1SickVeilsideZ thanks for the tip on the Pioneer rebates.... might be time to change out my OEM 09 Navi....

yah, there's a thread somewhere with the bits you need... but since you already have the bezel, might as well just get a new HU with NAV.

you need a trim piece that fits on the outer perimeter of the aftermarket HU and the wiring harness. i think that's about all you need?
