Cool roof rack system

I just bought my 2013 Fit Sport and I want to add a roof rack system. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My favorite is the Rola rack system... because it looks the most "OEM-style" out of all of the rack systems, in my opinion. Also, the actual cross bars don't hang out over the edge of the car like most other brands... which I like. The Thule and Yakimas are nice, sure. But I think the Rola looks the best on a Fit. Some of the available attachments (bike, etc.) available for the Rola are listed on the page also.

The URL:

Rola Sport Series Roof Rack with APX Mounting System for Factory Fixed Mounting Points Rola Roof Rack 59830

If you're interested in other systems, check that site for all of the others available for the Fit. They carry the Thule, Yakima, etc. systems as well as the Rola.

I would also shop for prices when you've decided which one you may want to go with. Not sure about that site's pricing compared to other rack dealers.

I have a Yakima rack with Q-towers and clips. 4th car this rack has been on. If I get another car it will fit it too, just change the tower spread{adjustable to vehicle measurement specs of Yakima} and clips, usually under $30. If you have multi cars or trade often there is no need to buy a whole new rack. Never any fit issues if following specific measurements from Yakima ,rated at 125lbs,and seconds to mount and remove. I have carried 2 canoes over 30,000 miles without issue on 4 different cars. Had Thule too, same there, but my model was limited to fitment as it was designed to fit existing racks side rails. My neighbor now owns that rack system and it's over 10 years old and no wear or mechanical issues.

Thanks for the responses. I had a Thule for my Mazda 3 GT but it had fixed points and I discovered after I bought the Honda that it doesn't. It is the Only disappointment I have with the Fit. I don't really want to have a rack that damages the paint. But I wil have to.

If you have a thule square or aero bars all you would need to do is buy new feet and foot pack for the car. I'm in the process of doing that as well. Thule makes great products that have been crash tested.

Thanks. I probably will end up doing just that. I am worried about the Traverse feet and packs damaging the roof. It was super having the fixed point system. Why doesn't Honda get up to date? The fit has a host of storage options but should be able to have a fixed roof mount system.

Yeah I agree with you on the fixed point system. What I plan to do is to lay clear vinyl down at the feet points so it won't scratch the paint.

Sounds as if you're kinda' set on a more familiar name brand already.

Nevertheless I thought I'd mention the one I posted does stress the fact their system will not harm or blemish your paint. Just throwing that out there since it's obviously a concern of yours.

I appreciate your suggestions. I will look at the Rola and Inno racks. Haven't seen either of these so an eye opener for sure. I have my Thule rack up for sale right now. So if they sell I will be buying a whole new system. If not, I will probably just get the Thule feet and pack.

I'm very happy with the Thule kit for my '13 Fit Base. It has rubber feet for the footpacks and a coated metal clip that goes into the door frame area. If that coating wears off, it could scratch. Also, it's been my experience with Honda and Thule that these kinds of clips (adapter kit in thule lingo) that if you wear them 24/7/365, they WILL eventually cause cracking in the door molding. I suspect the Fit will be no exception to that.

I will note, a Thule bike rack I installed on the hatch ended up causing damage to the hatch just below the rear license plate holder. Sadly, it seems to have crimped the metal, not just a simple ding. Annoying - the first ding on the car is caused by a damn bike rack. :/

But then again, I'm thrilled with how flexible the roof rack is. I use a Thule Mountaineer cargo box on that rack, as well as a Big Mouth bike rack, ski racks and just the bars plain - to carry miscellaneous things.

I'm in the same boat because my wife and I want the flexibility to travel with a family of four. I'm not partial to any brand but did pick up a soft Thule cargo carrier that was used once for $50. It is pretty universal so it should fit on other racks.

I will definitely check out the Inno link.

I will be heading south of the border to the land of choice and competition to buy a rack. cheaper and more selection. Shopping in canada can sometimes be like shopping in the old East Germany. ; ) I will look at the options you have all suggested and I'm sure will find a suitable rack.

Brought a soft Thule Cargo carrier in June for my trip to Dallas was able to put 4 small suit cases in it on the way back.

I provided some of the information on Inno racks in the linked thread, and thought I would chime in now. The Inno rack continues to be a good option at a better price than Thule or Yakima. But as I mentioned in another thread, the feet mount in a way that looks more like a good fitting universal rack than one designed specifically for the Fit. For example, while the front foot goes over the rain gutter crease, it doesn't "hug" the roof contour. Instead, there's a small gap between the rubber pad and edge of the gutter. It works fine, just doesn't look 100% custom.

In the meantime, I've had a chance to see a Thule setup on a Fit and those feet look like they are custom molded for this car. If cost is no object, I think the Thule setup looks better, with the rubber pads better matching the roof contour and perhaps distributing the load a bit better. But for good value, the Inno rack is still a very solid option.

Also, I personally still don't like the Yakima setup as much as either Thule or Inno because the feet sit outboard of the rain gutter crease on the more sloping part of the roof/door frame. I would think that could put excessive loads on the roof, consistent with peoples complaints about the Yakima rack causing dents in the roof. But that's just my opinion - alternate viewpoint are always welcome

I am looking for a roof rack system as well. Thanks for the info on the Rola--I had not seen that system before and agree it would look good on the Fit.
How long have you had yours? any complaints?

The inno racks are great almost looks similar to the thule 400xt foot. For the price, especially with the fairing you can't go wrong.
