If you own a Chinese made fit, you should read this.
It was brought to my attention by gold-civic that a lot of Chinese-made jazzes have a rusting problem under the rubber seal on the doors. The problem tends to be focused around the top on the door. Here are some pictures of golds jazz.
To be clear, this is where I'm talking about.
My Canadian fit was made in china, so I checked mine and there's a tiny bit of rust on the drivers door as well. My fit is only a year old, and golds is only a couple months.
*UPDATE*
There is also a large amount of rust accumulating on my front crash bar. I am not sure if this is specific to the Chinese made ones, but I am having this checked as my car was only a year old when these pictures were taken.
Needless to say, I'm going to take it in as this is a warrantable item. Anyone else that has a Chinese made fit should also check. All you need to do is peel back the rubber a bit along the top of the door to see if there's rust.
If you're not sure you have a Chinese made fit. Check your vin number, it should start with LUC.

Sucks to see that, Connor. But it's good info and thanks for keeping an eye out for our fellow GE members!
It's kinda weird we're talking about rust here, I had a nightmare that my GD had rust holes in it. Lol!

my car is 2 month old has rust there.
in germany this problem is know since 2009.
we have also jazz which are made in japan, no problem with rust there.
only the chinese jazz has this problem.
here are some more pics
Some pics from rust directly on the window frame, not under the seal
another silver jazz

Man I freaked out the first time I saw rust spots on my paint. It must be something they put on the roads here because it just wiped right off.

Yeah, sorry to see the rust. It's just a Honda thing it seems for cars in snow affected areas, most everyone I know who has a Honda has some rust issue. Almost every old Honda I see has that rust in the rear quarter panel wheel arch.

Whoops, missed the part about the Fit being only a year old. You're right, something's going on. It's something I'll have to check out myself on my own car the next time I'm out.

I will be very curious to hear how the Honda dealers react to this. Will they honor the warranty and make things right, or will they jerk people around?
I suspect we are going to see similar issues when Honda starts manufacturing the Fit in Mexico. Within a couple of years, folks in the USA will only be able to buy Mexican Fits, so if anybody is on the fence I suggest moving forward with your purchase of a Japanese Fit before that happens.

I bought a made un Japan GD, in Québec and we pretty much use atomic salt to de-ice the roads. Last year I was shopping for a GD so I was looking at cars 5-6 years old. I saw some very slight corrosion on the undercarriage and on certain bolts in the engine bay and behind the hatch. However, the door pannels were all perfect and rust free after 6 years of harsh climate and salt roads.

They put not enough paint on the car, so they can save money.
