New Fit will debut in Tokyo in November. I like the idea of it sharing design cues from the urban concept.

The latest Consumer Reports auto issue ranked the Fit as their top choice in the segment.

Not surprised at all, I just wish they could squeeze a bit more HP out of that engine while still maintaining the excellent mileage, but you can't have everything.

The new engine is rated at 125hp and 112 lb of torque with a 10% increase in fuel economy. There was a rumor that the engine maybe put into production before the next generation arrives.

I'm still glad to have the GE engine. I have reasonably strong confidence the new "Earth Dreams" engine in the GF model(???) will also be good, but like anything new, there's always a risk.

The GE engine is 100% solid, top to bottom a 300k mile engine, imo. To me, that's worth the 10% reduced fuel economy.

My wife just returned from taking her new Fit on a trip to see her mother 2.5 hours away. She tells me she got 34MPG up and 37+ back. Not too shabby.

The Fit always seems to get great mileage the problem is when people try to compare EPA ratings. In the real world not too many non-hybrids or non-diesels can beat it.

Very true. Just wonder why the EPA figures are way low for the Fit, but just a little off on most other cars

my punctuation sucks

i dont like everything honda does, but i am a huge honda nut, i got a honda emblem tattoo (15 yrs ago) and will never regret grtting it. that being said, i just wanna say a couple things.
1: i too am excited for a remodel, i bought my first "new" car in 2006 (a 2007 fit sport) until then i had always driven used cars (civics, crxs, a ford minivan (loved it) nissan truck, older fords (80's) sentra, etc. i only sold my 07 fit because a friend needed a car and loved my fit, the 2009 hadn't grown on me yet so i considered other cars (that lasted two days)
my 2010 fit i picked up in march of 2010 i have never regretted, i still after three years "look back" i love driving it every day, i have visited several new car "car shows" and have sat in many many newer and updated cars, and i like them all for the most part, but then in researching them a little more i don't see the resale value (even though i don't plan on selling mine i know if i had to i would loss far less than most others) and all the gadgets i consider kinda gimicky (sp), i suppose if i had a longer commute to work i might see them as i bigger asset, the new Accord is by far the best Accord Honda has ever made, and the earth dreams 2.4 with a cvt gets 36 MPG and thats in a "pretty good sized and heavy "sedan - imagine if that is understated, the whole reason the fit gets it's economy is because it has a small 1.5L, in ideal conditions (temp, and no head winds) i can get upwards of 42 MPG from salt lake city to los angeles AND BACK thats 1700 miles round trip - oh and honda has an "earth dreams" 1.5 Honda's Dreamy Future: New Engines, CVT for Fit, Pilot, and Accord - WOT on Motor Trend
2: the current body styling has done what honda wanted it to and grown on me big time, i loved my 2007, but look at my pics and wonder what i saw in it. it just seems this styling is so much more refined, so the next gen might take a little getting used to but it'll be hard for me to not want to upgrade after a year or so of it being out, who knows maybe i'll be in the market for a sports car after all i will be approaching my 50's very shortly
