reprograming TPMS sensor for new wheels

To those of you who have switched wheels or run different wheels for winter, what do you guys do for new TPMS sensor? I finally found some Canadian fit alloys and wanted to buy 4 new sensors and have the steel wheels with snow tires. So every season does this mean that when i swap the wheels I would need to have the dealer reprogram them?

Dealer or most tire shops. Or you can do it yourself with an ATEQ Quickset. This requires that you know the ID numbers for the sensors you're swapping in - it will read the numbers from the car. Then it's a pushbutton operation to swap. If you need to read the sensor IDs yourself after mounting, the ATEQ VT30 will do this (but won't store them in the car's module.) I got my Quickset through Amazon. Tire Rack sells the VT30 (but you can get that on Amazon too.) I have both.

I also have both. I bought the VT30 when I had an intermittent bad sensor that lit the TPMS light. I'd bring it in and all would be ok. WIth the VT30 I could tell the minute the light came on which sensor wasn't sending and got that one replaced. I used the Quickset to reprogram the computer. The VT 30 keeps the tire places honest by telling you immediately if they broke any sensors.
