Is it possible to add the steering wheel controls? I would assume the wiring is probably there on the base unit, just no wheel control set, etc.?

If some one has done this, are there any threads with directions?

Depends on what year you have i believe. i think the 2012 models added optional steering wheel controls, so the wiring would possibly be there if you disassembled the wheel (remove the airbag, pull the black plastic mesh pieces from the wheel) I would research what the new models have on the wheel, and see what all changed.

I think you may run into compatibility problems tho with the plastic inserts (new controls) that would replace the blanks in your current wheel. all i have on my 09 GE8 is cruise controls on the right so

 

OK, thanks, I was hoping that some one had done it and it wasn't going to be a big deal, but it sounds like it wouldn't be worth it... will just have to reach over the extra 18"...

 

Theres no individual options like that on Fits, its standard on Sport models now. And there's at least on person who added the controls, I think he needed to splice into wires so its not plug and play.
