I've tried it all, in search of a bright, but small LED for the license plate area, from $3-$25 a bulb. It's tough to find something that fits in the small cover, but still puts off light...even more truly white light.

These are the best I've tried:

194 LED Bulb - 1 SMD LED Wedge Base | Miniature Wedge Base LEDs | LED Car Bulbs | Super Bright LEDs

Perhaps I stand corrected

I still think these put off just the right amount/with the right color.

Nah yours are def brighter and in that sense better, but I feel like mine look a little more OEMish given the fact that they're not ultra bright. Doesn't matter: you're happy, I'm happy, and you don't get run over in MO

Edit: My latest "mods" have actually been bent on making the car more subtle, that's why they're better for me.

I don't get it. Why do you want your license plate lights to be brighter?

To me it's not so much about how bright I can get it, but how to keep it from looking so yellow and old-fashioned

it does look a lot sharper for sure. not a typical boring 194 filament bulb.
