I ran my recently replaced Continental DWS tires at an average of 38 PSI (for a time it was as low as 36 and other times, as high as 40 psi) over a period of 35k miles... and I noticed center wear.

It wouldn't be catastrophic... just that it was slightly more in the center, that's all.

Heck, I wouldn't call it "abnormal" either... considering I expected it.

Maybe someone can help me here, the TPMS light turned on a few weeks ago and it was flashing. (not the (!) light, but actual TPMS)I've checked the tire pressure on all 4 and they were fine. The light turned on when I was driving on a flat road. I just kept driving it and maybe about few days after the light turned off when I started the car and it hasn't turned on since. Is it something I should be worried about? It's an 09 sport if that matters

The TPMS light is just a dummy light so its nothing to really worry about, unlike the oil light or check engine light. If you say the TPMS light it means there is a problem with one of the sensors. If the light keeps coming back you will probable need to replace one of the sensors in the tires

My TPMS light came on this morning, 3 tires where at 29 Psi, one was at 28 Psi..5 Lbs low, I inflated all back up to 33 Psi, the light went out after a 1/2 block drive. All tires looked fine even though all where low...TPMS is growing on me

Mine came on 1 week after i bought it. brand new mind you. Then i had trouble with it taking air from my compressor...works fine on any other car, but for some reason, its like the valve stems are clogged or something but no air goes in, but comes out fine....odd issue. tested everything on my Civic, works great and yes the AC had more than 100 psi in it. Had to take it to a tire shop to get aired up. i think its getting low again already and i just did that last week

junk, cheap tires

Funny, I had the exact same thing happen to me this last Saturday. Believe it or not, my tires had the same lower pressure that yours had. And when I put air in them, the light went out about 5 minutes later.

Its not weird. Drop in outside temp=drop in tire pressure.

For every 9 degree F or 5 C drop you lose 1 psi of pressure. The reverse is also true.

If you go to the dealership in the winter, make sure you check your pressure soonest after leaving. The bays are usually around 20c and outside temp somewhere around -15c...that's a drop of 7 PSI. ( Makes me wonder how many sensors sold because of this...hmmm)

First, realize that the tpms sensors are not NASA precise devices. The setting built-in is about 26 psig and is therefore not very sharp. Probably varies 24 to 28 psig.

Second, we don't see the problem here because we set pressures at least 35psig by one of our calibrated gages so a pound or two variation won't trip the tpms. Besides it runs better at 35 psig.
My guess is the drivers who are having intermittent tp warnings are running pressures close to the trip pressure, say around 30 psig. And the warning comes on and goes off intermittently. Or they have inaccurate tp gages when they 'air' their tires.
