Your tyres are well over 1/2 of an inch too tall.

Why do you insist that my tires are too tall? They don't rub, stick like crazy, lowers the revs and reduces exhaust and interior noise on the highway... They do make passing on two lane roads a little difficult compared to 195-55-15s on RPF1s but they hook up out of the hole instead of spinning and smoking up past 40MPH in 2nd gear.. I'll be mounting 195-50-15s or 195-45-15s on the RPF1s for use on Saturday nights... That is when the local Sears store parking lot becomes full of seriously fast cars.

The proper sizing for a Fit is 195/55/15, 205/50/16 is way taller.

No such thing as to tall, to short. If they fit there intended usage and dont rub, have at it.

You spend too much time watching Top Gear... "Proper Tyre size, 1/2 of an inch too tall" Don't you really mean 12.7mm too tall... You need to remember that my engine has close to twice the horsepower and torque, turn over 7200 RPM and Vtec activates at very low RPM.. Putting the throttle pedal to the floor at just over 3000 RPM in second gear will light up 195-55-15s.. I suppose that if you'd been alive in the late 60s and 70s you'd have considered the tires on my 327 Chevy powered Austin Healey or my slightly built up 396 Chevy powered 65 Chevy SWB pickup or 389GTO powered 49 GMC pickup to be to big..

If you bought a real performance tyre you wouldn't have that issue. A 195/55 Star Spec/Azenis/Kumho XS/etc. will outgrip the 205/50 you have every day of the week.

205/50 is fine for both GD/GE and not to tall.I actually reduced both OD and revs per mile going to a 205/50/16 Kumho 4X compared to the stock Dunlop 185/55/16

Yep that's right not by much but still happened. There can be small differences in tires of the same size but different brands.

My tires are about 1/2" taller then a 195/55/15 so how much you lower and offset is the more critical issue IMHO

stock Dunlops= 24.2 OD/ rpm 863
205 Kumho=24.1 OD/rpm 862

You know GD and GE use entirely different tyre size, right?

Sure I do and there is not much of a difference in size on the Sport GD/GE

you are talking 1" or less

1" is pretty huge on an econo car, we're not a talking about Jeeps where proper tyre size be damned, people already complain enough about their Fits being sluggish, this will only make everything worse.

I already made fun of the wheel choice. I just don't see why people are spreading bad info. I can say with 100% confidence that other than TC no one else on this site is in the market to make their car look worse.

People are spreading opinions mike. People have different tastes/goals. I don't imagine you and tex listen to the same music or shop at the same stores but that doesn't make either one of you wrong.

Telling people that 205/50/16 works just fine for a GD is not an opinion. It is wrong.

It will rub, even at stock height.
It will worsen MPG (You'll think you're getting better MPG, but in reality you're not)
It will lengthen stopping distances.
Worsen gearing and add weight, say hello to even worse acceleration.

I wouldn't go so far as to question his gearing or acceleration without accounting for the rest of his setup.. he's making twice as much torque as stock in a 2500lb car.

You can bet red line (his is raised to 7200rpm) comes up pretty fast in 1st and 2nd, so taller gearing is advantageous and the weight would help it stick in an FF to fight wheel hop and keep his diff from committing sepuku.

On my last 1G FWD chassis which weigh the same as our Fits, good comparison for TC would be when I had the stock turbo on wg pressure just for break in.. the gearing is tall, like getting out of 1st around 40mph @ 7500 where the stock cam/turbo start to fall on their faces.

TC has a different goal for his car, and that setup works for him. Sure it might rub, but consider it can be outweighed in other areas. It would also give him a bit better AOA for getting in and out of his driveway.

Where on the doll did the 205/50/16 touch you?

I don't care about TC's car, I'm talking about for other GD's. He keeps bringing it up in every thread about tyres, but for most people on this site, its completely irrevelant/wrong.
