14" of squeal

15" of squeal
Okay, I got the fit base model a couple of months back. I was planning on babying it for 10 years, but found it to be too fun to not romp on a bit. The car is zippy and seems to have great potential in the cornering department, but these tires/rims aren't cutting it.
I'm far from an auto tech, but reason the best way to remedy the squeal when taking a corner at 20-30mph is to increase the amount of tire on the surface at any given time, and how much is going around to decrease temperatures. Essentially, the width and circumference. I'm sure some sort of suspension upgrades would do well, but want the rims and tires anyways, and don't want to dump too much monies.
So does that sound like a decent plan? Upgrading the tires and rims to wider, taller, and lighter specs? If so, what would any of you recommend as to dimensions/brands?
Appreciate any advice you can give in advance!

It can handle 16's but the difference in size isn't that important. What you want is a change in compound and tread design. A 16" wheel with a 205 width cheap all season will screech as much as a 14" 185 width.
I'd do a 15x7 with a 195/50/15 tyre in a nice summer tyre.
