removing door visors?

removing door visors?
So my car got hit this morning. 3k in damage. Body shop told me I'll lose the door window visor on the drivers side
Is there a way to remove it? I was thinking to pop the tabs with a long screwdriver, then run some fishing wire under it. Or a razor and a heat gun.
Anyone try this? Can I just order a single drivers side visor online?

you don't need a long screwdriver... you need something a little bit narrower.
you can use the tip of a pen to push the pin, then you just grab the other side and pull the pin a bit and finally, pull the rest of the tab. The problem with the tab is, if they've been installed a while, they'll stay with the ends bent outward. That makes it hard to reinstall, so you need something to hold them inward (shoving them into a pen tube?). Just enough that when you do install the tab, you won't have to fidget with getting it all the way in properly.
as for getting through the tape... whatever works for you... you'll just have to clean it off the visor afterward and apply new tape.
I guess you could buy just the driver's side. Bernardi's part number (at least for 2010):
001 003 08R04-TF0-0M002 View VISOR, L. FR. DOOR 17.25 12.53 0.00
001 003 08R04-TF0-AM002 View VISOR COMP, L. FR. DOOR 30.00 21.06 0.00
(COMP for complete? Complete what?)
But aesthetically speaking... one new visor might stick out.

Thanks Goobers. I'll give it a shot. Another thing I have working against me is that I can't open my window much and am not sure it would be enough for the pen method. Guess I'll just have to give it shot first.

try a wire clothes hanger.
make it straight, then bend into an L shape. But keep the bottom end LONG enough that the tip will push on the pin, while the bend in the wire pushes on the window (for leverage). And if the wire isn't too flimsy, it should push the pin.
That is, if you have the dexterity to do it.

There are some foam pieces that go in the weather stripping as well. They seem to have something to do with sealing the window properly with the clips in the track.
Make sure the new on comes with those piece, to prevent any leaks.
