Difficulty Engaging Gears

I have a 2009 5MT Fit and I just finished a cross country trip about 2 weeks ago with no major problems.

About a week ago, my clutch pedal got a bit harder to press (very minimal, but I noticed it) and it has gotten progressively harder to get into gear.

Even though the clutch is disengaged, I'll occasionally hear grinding, and once in a while it will get into gear with no problem (usually when I'm moving and in the magical RPM range).

The clutch has 72k miles on it, never been replaced - does this sound like a bad clutch?

+1, start by checking your transmission fluid.

Although it seems a tad early, it could be time for a new clutch depending on your driving habits.

The gear-engagement problem is due to the clutch being not completely disengaged when you push the pedal. It's due to needing either an adjustment of the engagement point or a whole new clutch assembly. Try the adjustment first. Also, have a look at the hydraulics between the pedal & the clutch. Might be low on fluid? Maybe some air in the line?

Depending on your clutch use 72K may or may not be worn-out clutch time. I put over 200K on the first clutch in my 1987 Civic, but I know I'm real gentle on clutches compared to some others.

Possibly double check your clutch delay valve.

The clutch isn't fully disengaging more than likely because of air in the hydraulic line because of a leak or moisture that that has been absorbed by the brake fluid if it gets worse after driving awhile.. Either the clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder or both could need replacing if moisture has been in the system a longtime.... Have some one bleed the system before doing anything else, it might be all that is needed.
