Anyone tried 205/45/17 +40 offset?
Hi fellow FF members.
Would like to ask if anyone tried running the specs below?
Wheel specs:
17x7
+40 offset
Tire specs:
205/45/17
Stock suspension. Would i have any rubbing issues? Since the wheels that i really like is only available on +40 offset
195/45/17 is really rare here in PH and i doubt i can but it easily.
Thanks in advance!

The guy who came in here with that setup indeed had interference. I personally got away with 195/40x17 on 40 mm offset wheels, but just barely. Once in a while it did rub with stock springs and shocks.
No matter what 45 mm offset is the way to gio.

okay so even on stock suspensions (springs and shocks) +40mm with 205/45 wont work... sad gotta find better rims now

I am on 205/45/17 +45 and it clears limit limit. You will rub when the car has passengers. Don't do it

I have a buddy on here(Eurobeaner) and he is running 17x8.5 +25 on 205 40 17's slammed down on t1r coilovers. He did a slight fender roll in the front and back, nothing extreme and he isnt rubbing...possibly with a lot of passengers but its daily-able...you would be totally legit with those specs you are looking at, especially on stock suspension

so which is which? really liking the rims that i chose though it only comes with +40 offset.
i chose 205/45 since its the second closest (215/40 first) to stock dimensions. So with stock suspension springs/shocks, will i rub? Let's say that i have 3 more passengers (total of 4)
Thanks again. Really want to be sure when i buy one. You guys have been really helpful!

The wheels at 40 mm offset are a half-inch further out and the 205's are another 1/4" to 3/8" further out at the edge of the tread. Try putting an insulation pad 3/4" inch thick at the edge or your stock tread and see if you roitate the wheels without hitting the pads..
Whats worse is 205/50x17's are an inch bigger so interference is pretty well guaranteed. 205/50x17's will have more error, worse mpg and worse acceledration. Stand on the door sill and jump up and down while you're doing that.
If you chose 195/40 0r 45 section tires you'll just make it but barely. 40 series does better and the difference in speedo and odometer reading isn't enough to care about.
And 205's work pretty well on 15" wheels for autocrossing or track but for the streetg 195's have all the grip your Fit can use if you choose a giood tire by lap times on tirerack.

Define 'slight' ? I beg to disagree. And has he considered his loss in trade-in value?

sir i'll just want to make it clear. I'll be using 205/45/17s since roads here are not as good as other countries. Also 195/45 is not an option here since it is not locally available for any brand. Thanks!

Even though i would have to agree with this, Nobody honestly thinks about trade in value when they are slamming and stancing their cars. Its a here and now thing. Im guilty of it. Im sure we will all regret it some day...

Man, i was in a similar situation as you 3 months ago. I was going for a 16" with 205/50 +40.
Goober who has 205/50/16 +43 rubs when going on bumps, so i kept researching and if there is one thing i have found on these forums is that this topic has been researched to DEATH and they have said over a hundred times, if you are going 17" and you want to be SAFE, stay with +45 offset. This topic has been discussed to death all around this forum. Unless you are willing to take risks, then you are most welcome to go below +45.
If you worry about re sale value, you worry about scrapping, you worry about modifications, STICK TO +45. If you do not worry about any of those, then go for it.
I could not get a proper offset in the 16" so i went 17" and God am i glad i listened to Goober and all the others. My front tyres are sticking out by a 2-3mm and my rear tyres fits just exactly in the guards as they have been discussing to death on this forum.

i run those exact specs 17x7 205/45 lowered on swift springs... i only rub when i hit bumps going through turns when the suspension is compressed. normal daily driving i dont experience rubbing and the roads here in chicago arent the smoothest at all.
#15
hmmm how about when you have passengers lets say 3 more? i doubt i'll do hard turns that will compress my suspension that much... Do you have any pics? Want to see how thick/far will the 17x7 +40 will stick out from the front
#18
hmmm still not sure if 17x7 +40 will rub with 205/45. Also not sure which will be more tucked under the fender if 17x7 +40 or 17x7.5 +45. Since i guess that usually tires rub on the fender so i'm guessing if i have a set of wheels which is nearer to the suspension the better?

We're sure 205/45x17 on 17x7/40 will rub. The 17x7.5 with 45 mm offset will work with 195/40x17 tires. and 195/45x17 as well on 09's and 10's, but maybe not 08's. I wouldn't count on 205/45 or 40x17 tires on either. Thats on standard ride height; lowered drops it all.
Do you know that the smaller the offset the closer to the hub? In other words 40 mm offset is 5 mm pushed away from the hub than 45 mm. On a Fit the vertical centerline of the wheel is inboard of the hub face.
