Tail Light Problem

Hi,

I have a problem going on with my 09 Fit right now. The problem is when I press the brakes, the left tail light doesn't light up. I doubt it's the bulb because the bulb works completely fine when I turn it on for night driving or when I unlock the doors with the remote key. It seems to be an light intensity issue because it just doesn't work when I press the brakes. I'm no electrician, but I did do a bit of research through the owners manual to look for the fuse that connects to the left tail light, look at it, and possibly replace it if it's blown. Couldn't find it. I've already tried taking the plug out on the rear and reconnecting it, but no effect. Anybody have an idea on what's going on? Possibly faulty wiring?

Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

You seem to be missing one minor detail.

The light has TWO filaments, one for brakes and one for simply being on.

Change the bulb.

>>>>>It is fuse 29 but just replace the bulb as the the brake light filament is burnt out.

Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

XXX I think he is . When he looks close he will see the two filaments in the bulb - one for tail and one for brake.

Now how much could a mechanic screw him for?

I did something similar way back in the 60s. I had bought a tent trailer sold by Sears. I was trying to wire it to be compatible to my Austin 1100.

Well the Austin had the two filament plus another separate light for the signals. I was trying to wire them to only a two filament bulb on the trailer. I would get 4 of the 6 functions. Like one signal or one brake etc. I spent a whole afternoon til it dawned on me. Adding a couple of extra lights to function as signals cured the problem. So RR you are not alone.
