Best coilovers for Daily Driving?

Best coilovers for Daily Driving?

Yes I have done my research on the forum, but I mostly come up with "these are awesome" or "so much better than springs". I'm looking for real feedback from daily drivers who have my same goals.

I'm looking into coilovers now primarily to close the 1" gap that my Swift springs leave between the tire and fender. I am not a track star, street racer, or hard parker. Also of note, I live in Baltimore which has so many potholes that it is akin to driving in Uzbekistan.

That said, I'm looking for comfort (as much as a coilover allows), durability, and a set that will be most likely to keep the OEM components of the car intact.

Looking at:

T1R - B-Max 52

TEIN Basis

BUDDY CLUB N+

Anything I missed?/Input?

My Tein Basis is sort of bumpy, but it's dropped to the lowest. It is good for daily driving I think, but most passengers hate it and I had reports of ass rasing off the back seats...2 times.

I have the Tein Street Advance. I have about 1/2" left all around before they are maxxed out. I'm running +4 clicks hard up front and +3 clicks hard rear. I've had other people drive my car that drove it with stock and with the coilovers, they said they could barely feel the difference, or even knew that I put suspension on. In the rear seats however, I've had many complaints about the ride being bumpy/harsh, but nothing too harsh that my frail grandmother couldn't handle.

Sorry to jump into your post!

I have the same question!!!!

I have a daily driver. My fit will never see a race track or even get over 120km\hr. I live in Montreal and we have the biggest potholes in the world!

I want a coilover set that will improve the ride (comfort) of my OEM's while giving my Fit a nicer stance. Read "nicer" not slammed!!!!

Or even better is there a lowering springs / shock absorber combo available? mix and match? been all over the web and FitFreak. Not really closer to my answer.

A bit frustrating for this newb...

What is the life expectancy of these upgrades? Am I expected to shell out $1300 every 2-3 years? or will they last 4-5 years? The roads here are bad. Very bad.

I've been reading that lowering springs over stock shock absorbers isn't the greatest because the OEM parts aren't designed to work that way (lowered).

So I'm going to be unpopular here but I do have some input.

On my Fit I have Swift Sport springs on oem shocks/struts. Ride is firm and more stable but not harsh or bouncy.

I have KWv3 on my s2k...long touted as being some of the best for the car. And honestly, they are "too much" for street driving. The pillow ball mounts are not forgiving and it just isn't as nice a ride as it could be.

Now for tracking, I can see that these things would be awesome because man you are planted! But it's just not near as comfortable as my fit with swifts...which btw also feels pretty planted :-)

That's just silly.

Coilovers are so much more comfortable than lowering springs.

Are yours set low? Raise the car, KW's don't like being low.

If not, you probably wouldn't like how a stock AP1 rides either, as these are universally found (except you) as the most comfortable coils for the S2k.

Hey I'm all about you guys having whatever you like the best.

My kw are set at about a 1.3" drop I believe. It's firm and sticky but roads here are shyte and I feel every pebble. Not so fun when we are talking potholes.

I'm a noob tho so I'll be happy no matter what.

And yeah I realize the kw are touted as the best...just not for me.

I just feel someone who tracks the car regularly can better appreciate them which is why I'm selling/trading them to someone who does and will.

No hard feelings, no big deal.

I'm pretty sure all 3 I listed have such...so....

Also, do you guys think that putting Swift coilover springs w/ a set would help anything? (They make some specifically as coilover replacement springs)

the buddy club n+ is very good for daily, my friend has them on his 2009 civic si, i know its not a fit, but i would imagine its very similar ride quality wise, it seems very close to my HKS s-compact's which i think its very good for the street, i would recommend HKS but since they are no longer in USA it might be hard to get HKS parts

you can't adjust dampers in any tein basis.

isn't buddy club's spring rate 7k/7k??? if so... those are pretty stiff springs for a comfy daily.

s compact spring rate 6k/3.7k... I like this alot. you can still get hks even if their corporate office in the US closed

Oh thanks Evil! Do you think the HKS is worth the $1800 vs. the others at -400-700? Also what about Tein Street Advance? They have adjustable dampers.
