Exclamation 08 Fit SRS Harness / cable reel issues?

Greetings,

I've got an 08 Fit and it recently started switching gears on me while driving as if I had used the paddle shifters. Issue is that the paddle shifters haven't worked in about a year. The dealership is telling me that it's possibly the SRS Harness / cable reel which needs replacing and it's gonna be about $450 + labor. Has anyone else experienced this issue w/ an 08 Fit and do you know what the exact issue is.

Trying to figure out if there's a cheaper way to A) replace the part they suggested, or B) solve this issue in general. For the life of me I can't remember the other part they said might be causing the issue if the SRS Harness isn't.

Help?

Changing the cable reel is pretty easy I think. Mine came off in my car when I was doing my volume controls add-on, but it's not recommended because it has to do w the SRS system and could/would void warranty. I would see if there's a way to make SURE that's the issue tho before replacing it.

Cool

Thanks jnesselroad. I just need to figure out a way to concretely get the issue diagnosed. If I leave the problem unfixed, no one at a dealership has made any indication I'd be putting myself in danger, so that's a plus. I may have to take it to another dealer and hope it acts up so they can further diagnose.

You wouldn't happen to have connects to a Honda specialist in Los Angeles would you? Figure it's worth a shot to ask.

Thanks!

I don't have any contacts in LA at all...I'm about as far from there as you can get and still be sunny everyday. You should be able to test the resistance on your paddle shifters w an ohm meter though. It should read one amount pressed and another when it's not. At least I would assume that's how they work. That's how most switches work. See if anyone has those measurements for you.
