Introduction and new Fit!
Just downsized to a great new Fit Sport! Downsizing not being a bad thing in this case - I prefer these small, European type cars anyway - but that wasn't the reason. The CRV was a manual, and we moved to the suburbs and so the Wife will be driving too now, so a manual is not going to cut it. (The adverb describing her driving a stick is probably "dangerously.")
But we don't need or want two cars - we both take the rail into the city - so we needed one car that would be fun to drive, can carry a lot of stuff if needed, and wouldn't soak up too much capital as it sits in our driveway depreciating without being even used.
So the Fit was, in the end, the car I kept coming back to. You get the sense that, if you don't need a really large or really fast car, you really would be foolish to get anything except a Fit, especially within the iffy-quality ultracompact market. The Mazda2 is a better drive, but it's too small. We have high hopes for the practicality and longevity of the car. The paddle shifters and the simplicity should keep me from going crazy driving an automatic.
You'll see me on here every so often contributing and hopefully providing a little tiny bit of wisdom. My tag fujisawa is the same as it has been in the past - when I owned a del Sol (solsociety.com) or CRV (crvoc.com). Each of those cars required some knowledge of how it worked in order to keep it running, so I know a little bit about automobiles now. No one would care what I owned before those, and in any case, I bet there isn't a 1989 Buick Century online forum...
I forgot my image hosting pswd, but of course all the white ones look the same, so you can look it up if you need. We amazingly actually wanted the Blue Raspberry, and even more amazingly, all of these sold immediately from local dealers so we couldn't find one. So apparently that is a popular color, although I can't imagine why. In any case, mine is white.

Congratulations and welcome!! I think you guys will love the choice you made, you can't go wrong with a Honda as you already know. I could not bring myself to love any of the Fit's competition, the Fit just makes too much sense.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Congrats on the new fit. great car and you'll enjoy it. It will be a bit more "go-Kart" like than the CRV and long trips will be a little less comfortable but definitely palatable.
Welcome to FF and (can't resist) go Yankees (however I think NY & BOS are in the race to the bottom right now- LOL)

I forgot to add, one of the things I loved about having a del Sol was that there was an enthusiast community out there to keep you interested in your car over time. The CRV forums are full of people discussing fuel economy and maintenance schedules and the next new model's features, and that's all really helpful, but I find it fun when people have all these crazy ideas about what they want to do with their car (regardless if only some actually do them).
So I always search for car forums before buying to see if I will keep coming back to read, or if I can't stand the posters - you can bet that, say, a M-B E-class forum is a lot different character than a Fit forum

Fujisawa have anything to do with Fujisawa, Kanagawa, Japan? Regardless if it does or doesn't welcome to FF and you made the right choice in the end as far as color goes, a "REAL" Honda should only be a type of white. :P
ohhhh yeah, as sb said...GO YANKS!!! Lost the Knickerbockers and Rangers already, they are the last hope for this season.

Thanks people! Not a baseball fan so you won't offend me. Kanagawa I know nothing about. Fujisawa is from Takeo Fujisawa, the effective cofounder of Honda Motors. Honda Soichiro was a brilliant engineer without much financial acumen, and he was introduced to Fujisawa who knew how to run a business and did just that for their shared career at Honda - they retired on the same day I believe, a pact between them. I thought it was appropriate because it fits my personality to not be that outstanding but still make a great contribution. And I am a business guy with an MBA. Nobody has asked before, but it's not a secret
