Wow! I step away for a few hours and look what happened! I love this forum. Just to try and cool it all down, im very close to getting another fit as my 07 was totalled a few years back. I had and will be getting the tanabe touring exhaust and I remember in my 07 auto, at jighway speeds there were points where it seemed like the enginde didnt know what gear it needed.. 5th to 4th back to 5th then would strain on 4th again. Seriously.eantong a manual if I can find one but didnt know if 5th at 70 with the exhaust would be annoying. Mainly cuz I read thst the revs are up in 5th at this speed. Maybe a feal breaker for manual, but now after these posts it seems like it was exagerated. U guys rock... 555sexydrive.. You have post of the year. Even stock... In my world, the nimble fit turns any street into a time attack session...haha

If your Fit is too loud at 70mph you should try driving below 60 or above 80... I'm not the only one that has found their car to be quieter at 90 mph than between 60 and 90.. With the only performance mods being a short ram intake and muffler shop fabricated axle back pipe with glass pack muffler I still got 37 to 39 mpg at a 90 mph cruising speed.. I still had to drop down to 30 or 40 mph and stop signs when going through small towns or I am pretty sure my fuel mileage would have been a little higher.. The fuel mileage and performance always has suffered when the temperature is above 80 degrees outdoors causing 1 to 2.5 mpg drop.

There's not enough torque to support a longer ratio fifth. Or 6th.

The manual does rev much higher at highway speeds than tghe manual; besides the paddles thats the reason for automatic.
Have you trierd putting sound deadening in tghe hood? One guy here says thats what he did and it works.

Stock Fit with OE tires should turn approximately 2900 rpm at 60 mph for MT, 2200 rpm for Auto.

From the 2009-2010 Fit factory manual: gear ratios for MT (Auto):1. 3.308 (2.995), 2. 1.870 (1.687), 3. 1.303 (1.066), 4. .947 (.760), 5. .727 (.551).
Final drive ratio, 4.625 (4.562*) *That is probably a shop manual error, I think
it may be the same as MT?
Effective final drive. 3.362 (2.514*) (2.548).
Stock tires ratate about 867 turns/mile.

Noise rating Auto 5/10. It's quiet compared to a 06 Mini Cooper I had and is not
as quiet as my 08 Mazda 3. The Mazda 3 is also considered to be a noisy car.
