Search autotrader for a 500 mile radius. Pick a selection of similar Fits priced high. That's where I'd want to be (plus sales tax) in a settlement. If there are no comparables near by, go national. A lack of comparables would make the price higher.

That $15K 09 Sport may have cosmetic or mechanical issues. Might not have a clean carfax. Might be from a state that salts roads (not sure where you live) with corrosion.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't suspension damage from the back wheel getting hit by the car too.

Agreed, I'll speak with my insurance tomorrow. As far as I can tell, there was no suspension damage, the lady scraped my wheel however

I live in Chicago, we salt the road a bit, but not as much as some of the other states.

Here are some more pictures as promised.

So sorry to hear this happened to your Fit but good to hear you are OK. I hope you can get it fixed and back on the road as soon as possible. I always drive with my lights on because people just don't see us sometime!

You post something like this, and then call somebody else a "stupid fucking idiot"?

Nothing!

I agree with you, the person that hit him is an idiot, but you made a blanket statement about SUV drivers in general. There are as many idiots driving all types of cars as there are driving SUVs. But, alas, we are in the "green" era where SUVs are evil,.... until you buy one.

to be politically correct... yes, idiots can be found in any type of cars but let's be honest here... more idiot drivers can be found behind an suv's steering wheel. be it using it's size to bully smaller cars or just being plain stupid.

In my general experience the SUV/Truck population is pretty much all idiots. Sure you have the very few good ones in the population, but the majority use their vehicle size to bully their way around the road because they think other drivers will just back off or get out of their way.

Yours is just an unfounded assumption based on anything but fact. It takes more money to drive an SUV not less intelligence.

I drive a Dodge Durango, ergo I am an idiot. I also drive a Fit, ergo I am an intelligent, cool dude just like you.

Or a split personality.

On the Durango, it's a chrysler product, it gets the poorest mpg of any SUV, and it's an SUV that is neither sporty nor particularly utilitarian. That's 3 demerits. You have a credit of 3 for owning a fit, so no, you're not cool/intelligent. Just average.

By that logic my lifted wrangler is like 8 demerits and my CRZ credits me 4. So what am I?

Sorry, but the longer this thread continues the more proof there is that morons don't only drive SUVs.

If you actually take it off-road then it's 2 credits giving you six.

Anyone driving a 4WD that never leaves pavement (or lives where it doesn't snow) gets 8 demerits. Plus another 2 for an old W sticker and a God Bless (fill in the blank).

Never said they only drive SUVs just that the majority of SUV drivers are morons.

Lol the Wrangler is only driven on road when we are driving it to go off road. A 4" lift with 35x14.5 mud tires makes it a pain to drive on road over 35 mph. Purely a tailgating and fun summer weekend vehicle.

Well I just talked to my insurance this morning and they said they just received the estimate and they have to "analyze it." The estimate is 78% (damage is near 11.2k of the car's value (which the insurance listed at 14,300), is it safe to say that insurance will total loss it? Insurance said it would take 2-3 days to analyze it.... My insurance already decided that the other party was at fault, the other insurance is still analyzing who's at fault... Gotta love insurance companies...

As far as the driver, she was pretty cool. She was a in her 40s, and she admitted fault at the scene. She was real nice about the accident, because she called the police after the accident, whereas I jumped out of the car and started hopping around because the seat belt dug deep into my ribs and left some bruises. She said that she could not see me and she was not familiar with driving her car as it was a week new car.

To be 100% politically correct, a dodge journey is not a SUV, it is a "family crossover." I rented one of those two years back. Sucker gave like 18 mpg, had play school plastic all around, and drove like shit.

I hope someone's insurance company is paying for a rental car until the dust settles.

Oh, and have you been to see a quack?
