Sound Proof Engine Compartment

Hello Fellow Fit owners!

Did a search for this but did not find anything - hence this post. Anyone ever tried to make the engine compartment quieter? Perhaps you used Dynamat or something else? Any comments, links, info, suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Best,
LRR

Same here and it's only loud if I stomp on it. Maybe give it some time. When I first got my PRM I wasn't used to the elevated noise level...after I while I barely notice it!

You can go pretty far doing this if you wanted. Examples:

Dampening mat on the interior firewall and underside of hood.
Spray on dampening on engine bay, underhood, wheelwells, etc.

Wouldn't soundproofing negate the point of having a CAI in terms of lbs/hp and alter the weight distribution a tad bit (considering the car already has more than 60% of its weight on the front axle)? The CAI already adds little to no extra oomph...

I would agree your best bet would be to dynomat the firewall. You could even do it on both sides (engine side and passenger side).

Or you could turn the intake into an cold-air with some piping and run it down under the car, that would make it quieter. SRI are extremly loud.

OR you could just ditch the intake if it's too loud, sell it on here. I don't really think any amount of dynomat is going to silence it.

Great point! Have to consider the weight of what I am considering doing.
