Tinting suggestions
My PMM 2012 sport should be mine soon, and I wanna tint it. I'll have my 2 year old daughter in the back quite a bit too. What percentage should I tint? Keep in mind I live in Tampa. Thanks.

This is their field of expertise and if they even the slightest idea of customer service they want to give you good advice.

I am actually getting my Fit tinted tomorrow. I was told that 20% is equivelent to factory tint jobs. If you see cars driving around with what looks like factory tint take that into consideration.

I just had mine tinted this past weekend and had it tinted as dark as is legal here in Alabama (32%, but they used 35% because I guess they don't stock 32%). It is a big difference over stock, but I really would have liked to go a little darker. I also got the top about 8" of the windshield tinted with 5% limo tint. It really helps when driving facing the sun.

Here in Maryland 35% is the darkest legal shade, so the shop I used put on something like 40% (because there is already some tint in the glass) to get it exactly to 35%.
If I could legally, I would have liked to have 20% in the back windows.

35% will keep the cops off your rear end and give you a nice shaded car on the inside and will dramatically increase the efficiency of your A/C and will keep your wee one comfy.
Caveat: going 20% on the rear window would keep the annoying truck lights out! But I've got 35% in the rear so that it looks the same all around.
A few notes on Tint material. Not all are made of the same stuff. I recommend using your Honda dealer. They will back-up anything they do. if not then insist on 3M.
Also match the tint color to your car color. Some are black some are bronzy and some are bluish. Mine are bluish to go with my black 2012 sport Fit1
And last but not least keep wet towels of your Tints. Keep'em dry and be careful when cleaning. Especially if you use a local hand car wash. They don't care if you have tints so mention it to them or just ask them to keep their paws off and do it yourself later. I never trust my interior to nobody but myself. Hope this helps
And post a pic of your Fit when the project is all done!!!!

I did 20% on the back doors, and the tiny rear sides, (for my child- didn't want those stupid suction cup shades), and 35% on the rear. I think its perfect. I can see out just fine, and its plenty dark to keep the sun out of her eyes. i also did 35% 6" or so at the top of the windshield. I think i paid $120 with lifetime warranty.

That's a sweet lookin' Fit lowkeymods. I'm loving the wheels/tires and the way it sits.
Like I mentioned I got 35% all around just like you, but only because that's the legal limit here. I think 25-30% would have been the sweet spot for me if it had been legal. Even at 35% it still lets enough sun in to get pretty warm on a hot summer day!

FL tint law 28% front, 15 rear. Florida Window Tint Law - TC Window Tint
I keep my cars a long time, and am not a fan of dark tint. I went real high end tint (read expensive), with Formula One Pinnacle.
I wanted 50 or 40 originally. The 50 was VERY light, and the installer did not have enough 40 on hand to do the 9 side windows/rear window. I had the F1 Pinnacle 30 installed 3 days ago and like it. I personally would not go darker on any of the windows.
Edit: F1 Pinnacle 30 is actually 33 percent.
Expensive high end is 3M Crystalline and F1 Pinncale. You can tint for much less if money is tight or you don't keep cars for many years.
If you plan to keep the car a long time, have cash flow, and want high end lifetime warranty tint, then F1 Pinnacle quote on line in Tampa is at: Tampa Bay Window Tinting Film, Auto Car Window Tint, New Port Richey .

35% sides and back, windshield top strip just below official line, but should be a couple more inches to cover gap missing by visors.
Would like to put on front but only cops can have windshield tint.
At what point or percentage do Florida Law enforcement actually check?
Did my tint because read here that a/c would be marginal, A/C works fine, tint wasn't needed but does make it more comfortable without having to turn a/c up to highest setting. 2012 White Sport.
