and have to say the clutch engagement is quite smooth and the shifting is just as easy . 3rd did act up once by being slightly notchy . Otherwise would enjoy having another Fit sitting in the drive next to the '11 base model Fit with the 5 speed auto . Auto for her . Like the standard better , makes you more alert by having to think what lies ahead . The '11 MAZDA 2 with the 5 speed manual that we tried out is slightly better for clutch engagement and shifting . Wouldn't mind having that in the drive with the 2 Fits .

The Fit has a clutch delay valve that makes engagment kinda weird sometimes. Fit > mazda 2

Wonder if the gear oil is a synthetic for the FIT ? If not REDLINE or AMSOIL true synthetic gear oil would improve the shifting . Used Redline MT 90 ( 75w-90 , GL-4 ) in a 2008 Yaris and the shfting became much better . No notchiness ( grinding ) or clunking into reverse .

The Fit has an excellent transmission. Mine doesn't do any of those things.
