Help getting rid of airbag light after installing recaros

Hi

So i've installed a pair of recaros into my Australian delivered 2011 GE8 VTI

problem is i cant get the airbag light to turn off

the resistors into the airbag plug doesn't work because the passenger side has the weight sensor and also the OPDS (Occupant Position Detection System). There is also another ECU in the seat that controls the 2 of these.

When these sensors aren't connected, the passenger airbag will not work.

Has anyone out there changed their seats and gotten rid of the light without removing the bulb from the cluster?

cheers,
Vic

I got rid of the light when I installed my recaro on the driver's side with a 2 ohm resistor across the airbag plug and removing the position sensor from the stock seat so it could remain plugged in.

I'm sure that doesn't help you much because the passenger side has so much more to deal with. Good luck!

Also when the light comes on from the pass side sensor being unplugged it can only be re-set with the dealer diagnostic deal.

Please post up what you find out in case I find another recaro to install in the passenger side of the wife's fit.

yeah i saw that from your write up chad, more concerned about the passenger side though.

dont think the wife is gonna be too happy when i tell her "babe, you have no airbag, but the seats are comfy aye?"

Anyone else out there who have done both seats? THEVILONE? the A&J Racing Fit?

Hello,
Did you find the answer for this OPDS ?
From what I read so far, if you willing to bought new OPDS Control Unit/Module,
that new sensor still have to be "initialized"/"introduced" with scan tools so the vehicle ECU know that it had a new sensor...
so the best way to do this is to remove the original OPDS Control Unit/Module from the passenger seat (with battery disconnected of course),
then plug it back after you install the Aftermarket passenger seat...
at least that is my guess at the moment...
but...
will that OPDS still throw a light since it can not be mounted to the
new aftermarket seat...
my quess is, even if the OPDS still make the passenger airbag light up on the dashboard, it still allow other airbag to deploy though...
while if you don't connect the OPDS at all, that mean other airbags will all be deactivated...
again this is my guess...
Until I took of the OPDS in my passenger seat, I would not know for sure how it work...

if anybody had answer to this questions, please post it here

EDIT:
I found the answer,
We need to took out the OPDS Module/Control Unit on our standard seat and
then either take out the OPDS sensor Pad from inside the seat (our current seat back) (that support our back),
or bought a new Seat Back and take out the OPDS sensor Pad from that.
Then reconnect the OPDS Sensor Pad with the OPDS Module and connect the OPDS Module to the car wiring.
(the easy way is to put the OPDS Sensor Pad under the seat, or
the hard way is to integrated this OPDS sensor pad into the after market seat aka Recaro)
