I was also thinking floor mat getting under gas pedal could do this. IF not something obvious like that-Bring it back to dealer--this is dangerous.

Well, based on your description and the responses, a couple of questions come to mind.

(1) Male or female?
(2) Experienced or relatively new driver?

Hand brake, brake/gas pedal issues, in gear/not in gear issues have already been taken out of the equation with the ASSumption of long driving experience.

Combat boots, sandals, platform shoes, high heels, etc. can be factors in the gas pedal-feel and can be compounded by unfamiliarity with the new car. And of course the type of shoes you have on/wear and feet size affects foot placement relative to brake/gas pedal clearance. I'm leaning towards your foot positioning snagging the brake pedal when accelerating or gas pedal sensitivity issues. Just my SWAG...

Many of us found the gas pedal-feel to be a bit sensitive and did the gas pedal mod link below.

Eh. Never liked driving barefoot. Always preferred my driving loafers or my puma driving shoes.

No doubt that is indeed a better solution. I haven't gotten around to it yet as this is my first MT and first time I tried the "barefoot solution" as I really needed that feedback when I was learning how to shift. Thanks for the reminder about the driving shoes.

I have read about that on the forums at this site, which helped me learn to drive the MT: How to Drive a Car with a Manual Transmission (standardshift dot com)

I get along fine now with the MT after a rocky beginning, but am far from being accomplished...but that's ok. I enjoy the heck out of it and that is what I wanted

And now, where is the OP with his promise to tell us what went wrong?

Ummm, you could put the name of every single other person on this forum as none of us here have the same problem driving as you do. The only thing worse than user error, is continuing to waste people's time trying to make a clever game out of your issue.

As many others have speculated, you left your parking brake on. Wow.

The pedals werent aligned right for my feet so doing a heal toe in the fit was a pain. In my CRZ it's a little better plus the throttle response is better than the Fit's was.

Yeah sometimes either you have to adjust the way you do it or get bigger pedals. i don't have any trouble but my shoe size is 11.5.
