Automatic shifting quality

Mine is like this also. I don't think its so much that 1st to 2nd is different in the gearing than 2nd to 3rd. Its just such a light car that you get a little lurch when it shifts because your going at slow speeds during that shift. The other shifts the car has more momentum so you don't feel it. I think if you put 3 adults in the car with you it will shift smoother because of the extra weight.
Ive had other light automatics that feel the same, nothing to worry about.

that could be an issue...mine will shift anywhere between 2 and redline depending on how hard Im on the throttle. My only annoyance with this transmission is when Im slowing for a stopsign or light and come to 1-5mph then give it gas to take off again it downshifts to first rather abruptly and lurches the car...its worse while the transmission is cold. it would not do this if the car was a 4speed because it would already be in first by that speed. The lighter you throttle it the less it will do it but it still annoys the crap outta me.

Doesn't matter if it already has dw-1. From all the trans oil change DIYs, notice there's a decent amount of deposits from the break-in.
Just doing a change at least once can potentially help, or at least rule that out as the cause.
The only downside is just cost of fluid (relatively small) if you're a capable DIYer, whereas there's potentially large upside.

The simple solution is, don't let the Fit drive you. YOU drive the Fit. It loves to be driven. It's excited when you give it the gas. It's made to perform. Don't be a wimpy accelerator for the sake of squeezing an 1/8th of a gallon more. I don't mean stomp on it or jack rabbit. But push it through the gears with some authority- it loves it and so will you.

Appreciate the info here. I was wondering why my Fit felt "jumpy" - I've owned a Civc, Accord, and Odyssey, and none of them felt this way. When I really step on it, it shifts a lot smoother. I just hope the transmission will be okay long-term.

I think this is the thrid thread I've seen concerning the A/T.
I have a 2012 Sport and have none of these issues. This transmission is actually one of the best I've seen in many years.
It's as if I can control everything with my throttle input. It shifts so smooth it feels like a CVT
I take full advantage of this transmission including using the paddles in D as well as sport mode.
What some of you are experiencing is the total oppisite of what I'm seeing.
I wish I had a answer but I just cannot think of anything.
